Open the dimension for editing and select the extension line. Then in Shape Style, change the End Arrow size. Repeat for the other extension line.

    Extensions.gif

If you have more than one dimension that needs fixing, fix one of them and then get the Eye dropper tool from the toolbar, sample that dimension and then click on the others that need to be fixed. To prevent new dimensions from having the too-long extensions, get the Dimension tool, press S and sample the updated dimension. This will then make the settings for subsequent dimension in the document.

What version of SketchUp and LayOut are you actually using? Your profile says you are using 2014 Make but you wouldn't have access to LayOut in that version. Please update your profile.

Thanks pbacot, the Export for SU button worked.

Workflow answer. I am an architect. Stairs show in the floor plans that they connect, so need to be able to print on a plan, showing stair from floor above, the other from the floor below. I model stairs in 3d, so I know they work, use components for treads so I can add/ adjust details... As landing on it, and a stair above going to the next floor as a section cut through a wall yields good results. A cut through a stair is not good, one riser is in section others light linework, and hard to get stairs from two floors to show at the same time. So I have two layers for a stair, one that is 3d for model shots, perspectives, and or elevations. The other, for plan view, is a 2d graphic that represents the stair, with a break line. The 2d graphic shows stairs coming from above, and from below.

Is there a better way to show a stair in plan?

Happy that helped. Another thing that can help you get the correct alignment of the model between viewports has to do with the way you set up the scenes in SketchUp. for the elevations similar to what you show, I create a scene with the largest area first (either your north or south facade) and I zoom in so the model fills the model window. Select the entire house, right click on it, and choose Zoom Selection. Create that scene and then immediately select the next standard elevation view and create a scene. Go until all of your elevation scenes are created. Then in LayOut, set up the first elevation viewport as needed. Make a copy and select the next scene. here's an example from a recent furniture plan. I used Shift with the right cursor key to move the viewport in this case.

Basically you can't change the scale of everything in one step. What version of SketchUp and LayOut are you using? Your profile says you are using SketchUp 6 but I expect that's not right. As you probably know you can change the scale of the viewports via the Scale setting in the SketchUp Model panel. If you have things you've drawn in LayOut using the Scaled Drawing option (assuming you are using a version of LO with the Scaled Drawing feature) you should be able to select those things and change their scale in the Scaled Drawing panel. Font size will likely need to be adjusted in the text settings and, of course, you'll probably need to move dimensions, labels and other text to get them positioned correctly.

If you need to change the paper size for a project, you can do that in File>Document Setup>Paper but you still need make adjustments in the size and placement of the content.

I think it's a good idea to use Layers in LayOut to separate content by type. All SketchUp viewports on their own layer(s), dimensions on another layer, text on its own layers. That makes it easier to manage those things because you can lock or turn off layers for things you don't need to see as you are working.

FWIW, if you need to do this sort of thing in the future, it's better to start with the larger paper because the exported PDF can be printed on smaller paper if needed.

Since my problem seems to be an isolated case, I decided to manually reassign the scenes to the paper windows correctly.
Fortunately, all of the other layout settings such as scale, styles, etc. were still there.
    Nevertheless, thanks for the hints.

This is in LayOut 2018? Is it possible that you are clicking and dragging the page name? The only way I can get the pages to change order is to click and drag the page. If you hold the mouse button long enough the cursor changes from the large white arrow to the vertical double-headed arrow.

There isn't a setting to lock them in position but they shouldn't be moving with just a short click on the name.

I doubt this is a bug. More likely it's incorrect scene and style setup. Share your LO file so we can see what you are getting and help you get it sorted out.

This sounds like something you might have been told by someone who doesn't fully understand how to use scenes in LayOut.

I just attached a file to my previous post that i thought i did , but did not. i understand your reasoning, but there is something quirky happening. whether i call it 'diving under the tray, or something else, it is a glitch, in my opinion. my workaround is to zoom out slowly, or to hit shift+z. it does not happen to a blank document, by the way.

Another thing that is often sought today is diversity in the subjects.

Do you have the viewport set up correctly in the first place? Is the scene in SketchUp set up with the camera set to Parallel Projection?

When you make any changes to the various sections of the Sketchup Model panel for a viewport, those settings override the settings for the scene. So, if you do something to override the camera position or any other camera settings (the Camera section of the SketchUp Model panel shows dark gray and there's a Reset button available) those settings will override the settings even if you select another scene. This is actually very useful but if you are copying a modified viewport to make another viewport, you'll need to click Reset for at least the Camera section in order to show the desired scene. Best workflow is to avoid making any camera changes that result in the dark gray background and Reset button showing. if you need to change the camera position or zoom level for the viewport, do that in SketchUp. You can drag the edges of the viewport to crop or show more of the view and you can adjust scale without modifying the Camera settings, though.

This is what I stress to my students. Although it might seem like it is taking extra time, keep things clean as you go. That means correcting reversed faces, eliminating stray geometry, purging unused stuff from files, reducing geometry, etc. If you are importing components from other programs, use the same work flow as is recommended for working with components from the 3D Warehouse. Import them into a separate SketchUp file so you can inspect and clean them to make them suitable for using in your model. Then copy and paste into your project file.

Speaking of file size management, I use a feature in Adobe Acrobat Xl pro and/or DC that reduces PDF file size considerably without noticeable loss in fidelity. I don’t know if this applies to users who generate models with non-default styles, however. I attached a 3-page collection of snips of a 7 MB pdf, which, after I ran the reduction operation, size was squashed down to 1 MB. FYI....I created the LO file using hybrid and line scale @ .2 pt and when I exported it to PDF, I chose 'set image resolution' to high.

Also your description begs the question: Is this happening to every file you work on in LO or just ones into which you have put this 2d drawing (what is it? a pdf?)--or any 2d drawings?
