Nice ones, thanks (I have never dared to start making a tree actually - I know I'd lose my patience). Attached an image, too. [image: 7Xog_23Dtressgeneric.jpg]

OK....probably a silly question but when do you use bump instead of displace in V-Ray for SU? I'm just now getting the time to mess with V-Ray Thanks, Jeff

Tom mate I'm not certain now which ones do and don't I know maxwell, indigo and Artantis do! Though as said I think in most cases people will link to a shader built more for the purpose which means in most cases swapping the maps in the model isn't necessary!

Miguel, Helped a little. Guess before I can be sure, I must rebuild the component.

I noticed that the offline version of vector magic http://vectormagic.com/home has a dxf export feature, might be useful if you wanted to do a lot of this type of work.

I really like this technique. I've done something similar in the past with hand drawn/hand rendered stuff (yikes), but this just inspired me to play around with exported images from SU. very nice!

Pilou, Could be wrong but I thought I tried to re-component it, though that did not seem to matter. Gai, I was able to re-position the image after I moved the face, but not at the same time. I think I can do it by making a blank workspace, inserting the old component, exploding it, then regrouping, and saving the new component. Next time I will position the image properly before cutting out the alpha. Every time I do this, I forget some step, and mess up. Takes less time to cutout the alpha then to get the name, etc. right:-) Another reason pro is the way to go. Thanks, all.

@unknownuser said: I use RPC for Revit as well as Piranesi and they work great. Having this feature in Sketchup would be great. Scott Thanks to you and Dennis for the comments. I will pass them on to ArchVision/RPC. We have developed a RPC to SketchUp interface, but we are trying to convince them to approve it (we need their permission to create SketchUp Components from RPC objects) and to fund it (we want them to give it away free to RPC users, rather than our trying to sell it) It's good to hear that people like you, who already use RPC, would appreciate it. It would be even better if we could find some people who don't currently use RPC who would start using it if it worked with SketchUp.

I agree with EarthMover. It also wouldn't have any strength. The glass top would be very heavy and unstable on top of those thin plywood supports. If the floor isn't perfectly flat, the thing would would twist or warp stressing the joints between the bottom and the uprights. Not much in the way of a modesty panel, either. I would think you could find something better than C-grade exterior plywood for the wooden parts. I'd say it would be stunning when the glass top falls on someone.

My hatching tool takes any .JPG you put in 2D's Hatching folder and makes it into a new Material - you can then export these from a Model as .SKM files if needed... The .PAT files posted are just special format text files instructing AutoCAD how to draw the bits of lines to make the pattern. You need to use these in CAD as Hatching then, export a .JPG 'web-format' plot and edit that JPG so that it can be used as a tile-able iamge via 2D Hatching...
