Open the old SketchUp file in SketchUp. Open the Styles browser. Open the secondary pane. (little plus icon in upper right corner of Styles browser.) Set one pane to In Model. (click on the house icon) Set the the other pane to an existing library or make a new one. Click on and drag the thumbnail for the style from In Model to the other pane. That will save your style for future use. Now, to share the style, navigate to the folder in which you saved the style and you should see it to attach it to a post here. As to your second question, you can open a style in Style Builder and make modifications to it as desired.

We have enjoyed this game many times on the "Redneck Riviera." Gets even more interesting after several beers.

I can see your point. Engineers often haven't a lot of creativity and sensitivity when it comes to restorations.

The diffuse map is pretty nice. Won't necessarily work for hull texturing, but it would be a GORGEOUS building wall panel, and with permission, I think I will adopt it for that. @Rclub24: Yeah, that's actually the structural design path I follow for aerospace craft and such. Visual texture of the individual panels is where I've been having to rethink everything with an eye toward finding a balance between "Ooooh! That looks really kewl!!!" and "Realistic enough, but boring...." Good reminder though! Bolshoyeh Spasebaw, both of you! Cathryn

Hey Pete, try on of these: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?uq=0247568597570164351511122&scoring=m They are obviously high poly but are componentized in a way that doesn't slow the model down much. They render well as well: [image: T6qF_cgworldpine.jpg]

I hope it works alright for you that way. I think it would save you a lot of time and it will certainly help you keep the file size down. I don't know enough about ACAD but is there a way to automatically apply hatchings based on some parameters?

No. essentially if you only have one instance of a component in your file, it's doing nothing for you in terms of file size. I'll sometimes do that, just to group my objects together but that's about it, just convenience. As for rendering (assuming you're just talking about orbiting around in SU), components do nothing for you there regardless. Your cpu/graphics card still has to look at all the objects on your screen whether they're components or not. The only thing components do for you is help with file size (other than workflow improvements like editing one object rather than 20). Now if you get into actually sending your SU file to an external renderer then it changes things slightly, but that's a different issue. -brodie

@bigtom said: Thanks TIG What is a colorized texture? When you have a 'textured' material [e.g 'brickwork'] in the model materials collection you can edit it. One of the edit options is 'colorize' - this adds a colored 'film' over the texture [you edit the RGB - reset uses the 'average-color' of the texture] so you can tweak your bricks to be 'pinker' or whatever you want...
