Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Chris, I understand all that, that is not the issue. I could just download the file and then open it, which is what I do if I think I'm going to want to keep the file. In fact, I have my browsers download to a folder of my own choosing, not the temp folder under my profile. My issue is having to close that worthless dialog that opens. The scenario is usually that I'm reading this forum on one monitor and want to open an attached SU file on the other monitor to look at what the problem, example, etc. is. I click on the attachment and elect to open it with SU. I continue to read while waiting for the file to download and SU to open. After a while, I realize that SU has not opened because it is still waiting for me to close that dialog. SU already tells me that the file is read-only in the title bar of the SU window, why require me to verify that the file is read-only before it will open the file? I realize that this trivial, but it is one of those trivial non-user-friendly nuisances that bug me.

Hi man, wassssuppp ? i think i found the issue here... i'm running SU6 and i found 2 issues: 1.Sketchup didn't recognize my path to the folder... or that it was unable to read my file name (i had some files in Latin language)... solution: create a "tmp" folder under drive (i.e. "C:\my_dwg") and export the file (DWG) to there (give it a simple name like "try")and import to sketchup from there. when i've created some dwg files i insert unsupported charecters to the Layer Manager... i.e. i had layer which called "table&carpet" or ".door" and ONLY after removed those illegle charecters sketchup was able to load it ... hope i'ved help u... let me know if i didn't and will try to figure something for u. Shto

@mark said: I downloaded Virtual Dub, but am a bit overwhelmed with the amount of options. And the one series of images that I did manage to make into a movie clip was about 1.5 gigs. compared to 20 mgs coming out of Movie Maker. Obviously I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions? I assume that you haven't used any codec when assembling the video...?! The Cinepak codec by Radius, is perhaps the safest choice of codecs for general usage... Cinepak's main advantages are that the codec is already installed on most machines, and that it can play video reliably even on older machines such as Intel 486 computers... Its disadvantage is that, when compared to other codecs, it tends to produce lower quality and larger file sizes... You can get free codecs at Codec-Download.com... Also - you need to make sure that you're using an appropriate output size as well as using an appropriate FPS setting... To get a smooth animation I recommend that you use 24fps... (Expert setting 23.98fps European PAL – 29,97fps full NTSC) Resolution should be set to 768x576 You can read much more about proper video settings on the Internet http://lipas.uwasa.fi/~f76998/video/conversion/

Rather buy the Smustard plugin, it pays for itself by the second time you need to use it.

I've had similar problems using download managers, most of the time they work, but sometimes all they do is frustrate. If you try downloading without a download manager it will work fine.

We haven't even had snow this winter but the sun is shining at the moment. I haven't even turned on heating yet (the adapter of the lappy is nicely warming my feet under the desk) So where are those icicles?

Whilst it's sometimes quicker just to double click, if the faces you are push-pulling are all painted with the same material, or all on the same layer, you can firstly right click one face and select all faces with same material/layer, then use JPP. It's then only a two step operation and very fast. Kenny

I have a script which I used in V6, and since loading V7 it has stopped working properly, and I was trying to run it in the console to see if I could find out where it was breaking.

I've been using it on a current project, it was working fine but now the gml texturizer window won't open and it crashes SU quite alot. I've tried reinstalling it but it still does it. Crashes SU7 too. There are no installation notes on their website. Good app though when it works.

I just got a program from here http://www.kissmyimage.com/en/download/ It will keep the pixel size of an image the same but reduce the file size to one you input. I am using it for panoramas on virtual tours and it is amazing. I am dropping files from 3mb to 900kb without any noticable difference. There is a free version with a very small water mark. Full version is cheap. I highly recommend this, the people on the panorama forums say it is way better than what PS can do.

Gotcha. It's in the Windows menu on a Mac as well. I did not see it because it was stuck to the layers window in the corner of the screen. Thanks! Jim
