I had a similar anomaly recently but it wasn't hidden geometry. I closed the program and re-opened and it went away.

Great, thanks for the explanations. I'd love to have a go at making something like that. Maybe a bit ambitious seeing as how I don't have a workshop, if I want to make something I have to wait for good weather and work outside.

Peter, I prefer doing my clay renders using the #7 preset to keep the shadows from blocking up. the few times I tried to render with the AO preset I got much denser shadows that I wanted. Here's the most recent version of the built-ins. Quite reduced from the original version but that's alright. [image: 8504207294_ed87deaa4a_z.jpg]

Great colors... That style pops with the classic piece.

Ah, yes. I can see how that would cause that illusion. Chalk it up to smart phone camera technology.

All I did was select the section cut , right click and click hide then go to the previous scenes select the section cut right click and hide, updating each scene.scenes and section cuts.skp If you unhide the section cuts you can see them. To show them in all scenes you have to unhide and update each scene again.

Thanks for the suggestions for the move by fence, but when I select the end by fence and extend the tube, the taper does not change left to right. Not sure it the taper changes in the other plane. I was hoping to easily extend the tube to have the taper grow or shrink on the ends, this would need to be in 2 planes. I will look at the plug in later. Thanks Jeff Test.skp

Looks pretty good. You might want to scale that oak texture down a bit.

Thank you, sir. Yes, the One King's Lane site does have some interesting stuff. Decent photos, too, for those who want to try to model some of the furniture. As for my model, I couldn't decide how to handle that one shelf; I thought a rounded-over edge would look odd, so I left it square. But I may change my mind again. Truth be told, once I got the cutouts in the sides looking right and did the rounded-corner molding, the rest of the piece wasn't that interesting. A shelf is a shelf is a shelf; not much one can do with that. Best, dh
