@dave r said: glad if my babbling is helpful. FWIW, I also tend to minimize nesting as much as possible it generally makes it more complex to edit the model and it is easy to get nests screwed up. also make sure you have a clear understanding of layers and only make layer associations for components/groups. Leave Layer 0 active at all time, draw everything on Layer 0 and make sure edges and faces always remain on Layer 0. Thanks Dave. So far, Fredoscale seems to be behaving while avoiding groups.

David, I have no idea how Robert joined the pieces. Maybe he used epoxy.

@wilsonbuilt78 said: Hail Chief Been a while since I downloaded and started using your plugin and I would like to make a few observation and suggestions if I may: Hi Stephen, I am so sorry for getting back to you so late with this reply. Somehow I missed you post. But the good news is that a few of your suggestions are either implemented in version 2.5 or will be in version 3.0. See my post on my blog for the release of version 2.5 at http://www.srww.com/blog/?p=1918 . Version 3.0 will address the Other Items issue and much, much more. If you are a CutList Plus fx user and are familiar with the Raw Materials tab then you will be plased to know that all of what you see under the Raw Materials tab will be included in CutList Bridge. That is, you can enter it in CutList Bridge and keep the data with the SketchUp design file. You can export it to CutList Plus fx and/or import it from CutList Plus fx. In other words, keep the two synchronized but keep the Raw Materials data with the SKetchUp design file. This will allow for the quick costing analysis that you suggested all in SketchUp. My bottom line goal is to keep all Raw Materials data and model parameters (attributes) with the design file (.skp) so that the user need only save one file and not more than one. Others, like .cxp can always be recreated in a flash. Also, While I want to tightly couple CutList Bridge to CutList Plus fx, I want to provide basic functionality for SketchUp users who can't afford CutList Plus fx but leave the professional functionality to CutList Plus fx, such as sheet optimization, layouts and dxf export for cnc. I hope to have a beta release available in mid summer and am looking for beta testers if you are interested. Just let me know via email at jpz@srww.com. Thanks,

    You might try Component Stringer.

Joe, I guess I don't know a lot about Mr. Limbert but he was quite the prolific architect from back in the days when architects also designed the furniture to go into their houses. Think the Greenes in California and others. As to the arrangement of the rails and stiles on the door, I agree with you but I drew it as the originals were made. If I were building this piece I might change it to be more like traditionally done with the stiles covering the ends of the rails but for the model it is an "as built" thing. [image: OcNX_656.jpg]

Of course a plan needs to be detailed but the woodworker won't be making these parts. If they are at least recognizable and you specify them in the materials list and identify them with labels, the woodworker will have more than enough information. I draw lots of plans and always have to include hardware but there's never been a case where I had to have fine detail drawn on that hardware.

Dave, I used the Killen method: Draw the square portion of the leg. Hide a face. Draw a pommel shape along a diagonal and extrude it. Unhide the face and then intersect the square portion with the extruded pommel shape. Your method entails fewer steps and much less clean-up.

It was probably called that because of its simple non-ornate style.

Personally I like the model but as a desk I wouldn't like having to clear the top to open or close the doors on it. I'm cluttered too.

I had a request from someone for a plan for this so I did the joinery last night in less than 3 minutes using the Wudworx Mortise and Tenon plugin. [image: 8529924714_8584728d4c.jpg]
