As a picky point, how were you planning to install the lock pins in the tenons that join the legs to the end boards? The holes don't reach either face, so there is nowhere to drive them in! Also, there are some spurious blocks inside the joints that don't have notches in the corresponding top boards.
Steve
I don't think those are picky points but evidently not important to ttype. He said it'll be built using a CNC router which I gather he thinks will solve the problems. It'll be interesting to see his finished project. I hope photos will be forthcoming.
To roll back a bit...
If you are proposing to use lots of these in your model - like capitals for columns in a classical building - then component instances will reduce the load on the processing... BUT remember that every facet still needs calculating for shadows, what it obscures etc... So over detailing can be a killer !
If they will never be viewed close up. then it might be better to make a less detailed form and apply mapped textured to the facets to give the illusion of a more detailed 3d form...
See this thread
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=48892&p=439336&hilit=+molding+texture#p439336
It discusses how to make a detailed cornice, using a texture instead of making every 3d facet...

Yes, sometimes I do other things than "trolling the internet" (Dave R). At least I don't forget cooking and cycling...
This should be your favourite link then...

Yes. It seems though that there's something different about this graduated color than a simple graduation done in PhotoShop. I think it would be cool to make materials to insinuate reflective surfaces by rendering reflective surfaces and using the resulting images.
Thanks Pilou, i found one very useful plugin in tuts you sent, and yes u are right, it is torsio chair from Bosnian wood furniture manufacturers Artisan http://www.artisan.ba/
They have great designs, all made from solid wood and hand crafted.
Nice work, Gene. I like how you handled that point midway down the handle. The bottom of the handle looks like it gave you a challenge.
Curious as to why the handle is a group instead of a component like the rest of the parts.
In fact it's because I had a plastic model who was quasi the same form than your legs' table
not refound but...something like this

Thanks for that. It sounds like more work than the way I do it. There's no need to use Zorro in my process. Although there are some occasions when I do make a copy of a component to edit it, in this sort of thing I don't find a need to do that. I just edit the components in place.
Could you show us an example of how Zorro is used for your process?
That's looking good, Gene. I wish I could get Eastern white pine that looks as nice.
For the hardwood version are you going to use white oak or something else?
