Vanity Cabinet
-
A vanity cabinet designed by Mario Rodriguez. This is a model I did for Fine Woodworking to accompany an article in the current issue. The model and plan will be available from them.

Nice clean lines. Nice work as usual Dave!

Nice looking drawing, Dave. Is that a texture for the mirror. Pretty effective.

Thank you gentlemen.
Peter, I assigned a metal material to the mirror in Kerkythea and let it reflect a bluish/white wall behind and to the left of the camera. I lit the wall so it was unevenly illuminated to get the gradation in color. I suppose if I zoomed in on the mirror a bit and rendered it again, I could pick out the color and use it as a material in SU.

Of course, now I see with the soft shadows it's got a rendering in there. Otherwise though, one might use a graduated texture like that in straight SU to suggest reflection.

Yes. It seems though that there's something different about this graduated color than a simple graduation done in PhotoShop. I think it would be cool to make materials to insinuate reflective surfaces by rendering reflective surfaces and using the resulting images.
