The original chairs were first made in the mid-1980s. I'm almost certain they were made by laminating thin layers, not by bending ready-made plywood. But I don't know whether they were made with brute force and tons of clamps, or with vacuum bags.

I can barely manage to make four passable duplicates. I can't imagine making fourteen. There's a wonderful woodworker/artist/woodturner named Beth Ireland, who lives near Boston and who started a woodworking business several years ago. A client hired her to make something like 500 balusters for a staircase, and that's how she learned to turn.

Cool, but I don't see where the monitor and mouse pad go. Actually this is like an art table I got for my wife years ago (albeit that was simpler in design). Nice model! I like that there's a stationery surface and side drawer for setting tools as you work.
