OK, still moving on with the build. Sketchup diffusion threw a few wobblies after an update went south. Rayscaper still on it. The colour is antique white from the skp standard collection, looking to see if I keep the pbr collection, not keen tbh. YES - this is what details should be like - no more boring 2D drawings. I have started on a kitchen cabinet detail but i dont think it will look as impressive as those. poster: syburn

Very nice start and I agree. It would look better if there was shadows from a few windows. Scott

@will03 said: I really like that style, I wouldn't mind picking up a tablet... how big is the tablet you bought? because I've heard its really hard to do with a tablet smaller than your screen... Keep up the great work! can't wait to see some more images! Surprising to me... After about a year with my 6 x 8 Wacom Graphire (11" x 10" overall), I learned to reduce the size of the "active" area, and it actually became easier for me to use! With the smaller work area, I don't have to stretch to get to the far corners of the pad. My desk space is cramped, so I have the pad parked a little too far away. So-- I'm using a 4" tall x 5.5" wide section, and thinking maybe I could swap for the smaller pad. Too bad it's so hard to find one to try before buy.

Congratulations Jason on your beautiful baby. From this topic itself its apparent that quite a few members have become parents in the recent past. I suggest someone start a 'my baby' thread, it would be fun. I'll definitely join in. Guite

James...you crack me up (should I be charging for the peepshow :`) I can't post the file 'cause it was a freebee on some entourage image site, and I really can't remember which one...really...honest. But some searching should hook you up. Best, Tom. (I will admit, since I teased you, I use her as a scale reference building growies I think for your same reasons for liking her. I made her 5'-6" for my eye height and can then put the horizon on the top of her head for reference...that's my story and I'm stickin' with it!)

Cool, Phil...the wood grain and countertop texture is dead-on! Hope we get some more model/real postings here...thanks for sharing, Tom. Side note: the other surprise on mine was the coolness of the built brick used...I spent hours (beyond the billing!) trying to get the brick texture just the right shade of "warmer!" orange for my client :~b

Cool. Thanks for the replies. I've been away from home and computer access for several days so haven't gotten back sooner. I figured there were a variety of reasons, not the least of which being keeping your real "work" from being borrowed. If someone can gain some insight into techniques or if they even wanted to use the stuff I've posted as plans for making a piece of furniture, that is fine with me. It has been awfully muggy in my part of the woods lately, so my woodworking has slowed down. Being able to design and "build" pieces in SU in air conditioned comfort is almost like being in the shop. And it helps to work out problems I might encounter when I actually go to build one of the pieces, saving wood and time.

we were supposed to create an exterior space that can be used for various performances or exhibitions but also a public place when it is not being used for any show or something...my concept was to explore deconstructionism and how concrete and rebar are typically a system in which the rebar is static but in this space the rebar does the opposite and breaks away from its typical function...also seeing how the rebar can be a structure in itself rather than just a grid that strengthens the concrete...thats it in a nutshell basically...not sure how successful it is but i am happy the way things turned out Kevin Geist http://www.archexpressions.com

Tom, I was reading an article on Ralph Rapson (sp?) last night, talking about his sketches. Don't know what it was about them, but they made me think of your work. Dave

Very nice work Mateo. The drawings are really communicative and representative to the final result. Client must be pleased... Cheers, kwistenbiebel
