Thanks guys. Mike, I used Vue for this as it is awesome at exteriors. Watkins, those are cool, never seen them before, imagine to fun rusty textures I can create... until my next goof-off. Tinanne, I have two boys that are now big SU users, we have these 'model-offs' that used to be a walk in the park, these days i have to be on top of my game as they are getting pretty good, it wont be long until they pass me in in speed and accuracy of modeling. Daniel, I slipped on the Bond girl...damn!, I have however modeled a low poly Bond (Roger Moore my generation Bond)

Yes Gaieus, i added some ledges along the wall indicating year span that each generation was born i.e 1947-1955 1932-1947 1916 - 1928 ect. I suppose you could have each scene go to a specific branch or generation or follow a direct line of decent, for ancestors, maybe paternal, maternal ect. good idea i like it thank you

Thanks for the tips and encouraging words, everyone. Here's the "final" version. Changed since last posting: some colors & textures, tweaked tile color/position/bump map, softened shadow, ceiling fan, light switches, outlets, tone mapping. I experimented with HDR on this - output 5 Gamma tonemap exposure steps (1.00, 2.00, ...), merged them in PS, then Shadow/Highlight adjusted. I liked this version better than the product of my previous process (HSV or Linear tonemapping, PS Shadow/Highlight adjustment). It produced a more realistic image; though highlights are more overexposed than with just Shadow/Highlight adjustment, it appeared more like a real photograph for that very reason. Excellent, good for you and SU is just the right tool for this. Looks great.

My only experience with Kinko's was $50 each for 16 x 16 mounted on gatorboard with clear laminate surface. As for output from SU - render a jpg (best quality setting in the options dialog) as big as you can (max. is 9999 pixels) WITHOUT ANTIALIASING, then import into Pshop and resize down with bicubic resampling. Pshop will do the antialising much better than SU and almost instantaneously (and SU will tend to freeze with AA output above 3000 pixels, not to mention taking forever).

Well im getting kind of bored of waiting, so i'll tell you what the difference is. The first one is done as a normal mirror is, a piece of glass with shiny metal sprayed ontot the back, and the second one is just a straight shiny surface. Looking at them again after a few dyas, i reckon the first one is beter, but it needs a bit more tweaking, the thickness of the 'glass' needs to come down a bit, i reckon, ad it needs to be a bit more transparent. Thanks people who responded

I like the first and third one. The third one is the best. I like not seeing the edge of the underlying tin. the morphing strips can become the focal point and the background stays less noticeable but when we see the edge of the larger object then we perceive it as an object and it competes for attention with the squiggly streamers and their shadows. Just my 2 cents.

Fire Ball Fbartels, This is pure awesome. It scares the crap out of me.... I mean really, I've seen this ghost before, when I was young and hooking a summer night at my then girlfriends granddads disintegrating old house. This specter appeared just as your so very cool and frightening apparition here -- all plasma, and weird veins popping out. A bit like that artist Alex Grey... You into that dudes action? I like his paintings a lot, but here is a little video inspired by his work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFnUleNF13o I'll ponder this ghost again. Not sue when I shared about seeing this prankster, but thanks for remembering it, and doing such a great job of realizing my recollections. Durant "I will give up meat today" Hapke
