Hi, There are a whole lot of applications that can batch resize images (at home I use the simplest Windows tools for this). If you resized an image, you can reload it from the material editor (click on an image there and go to the edit tab). Now I don't know how this - resized - image would "behave" with photomatched models though.

That looks like a clipping plane problem. click your zoom extents and then try to zoom in, and see if that helps.

Hi landman and welcome. Yes, what Alan says. Also components (especially with many instance) have a lot of further advantages you'll discover (keeping file size down for instance).

Yeah, you can download it there and install even upon your existing free version and get it to work (free) for eight working hours after which it will decently downgrade into the free version unless you pay purchase a license. Basically only the 3d and 2d vector format export is an added funtion in the pro version currently - plus there is a presentational software called "LayOut" and lately "StyleBuilder" that are added to the pro version. So only download and install it when you feel the need to try these functions out. If you are still at a stage of exploring the modeling functions of SU keep it for later...

1/200=0.005 so you just do your scale as normal, but with a "divide" instead of a ratio

Well, this is true. Thus the general "advice": always work (draw) on layer0. I don't even ever make any other layers active.

Ecory, To lock the inferencing (temporarily) to ANY axis hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard. Very useful. ... This way you can lock to the R,G or B axes. Similarly, as in your case, when you see the Magenta coloured axis light up (= perpendicular to edge or parallel to edge) - hold down the Shift Key also. ... Holding down the Shift key will also lock the inferencing (temporarily) to any arbritrary axis (Black Line). ... As mentioned, guidelines can also be used. You could also draw a temporary line leading away from you ramp as a guide which you can delete afterwards. ... Hope this helps Howard L'

One easy way to get a more ambient type of lighting, for interiors, within SketchUp itself is to reverse the position of the sliders on the shadow setting. Pull the Light setting down to around 20 and push the Dark one up around 50. This will give much softer shadows. They will still have a hard edge, because they are vector-based, but the overall effect will no longer look like the model is set outside in strong sunlight.

Further to Jean's advice, make use of SU's "hide rest of model" feature when you are editing a group. Make a keyboard shortcut for it as well, then you can instantly turn it on or off when you are inferencing with background entities.

I think it also depends on what it is used for. If you are creating an image for your own enjoyment and posting on forums such as this (i.e. non-commercial work), you probably wouldn't have any problems. If you are creating commercial work for which you are paid, and used someone's likeness without their knowledge/consent, you will probably run into a problem. The exception is images of historical figures over a certain age (100 years I believe).

You have to remember though that a dryer vent like that is made up of a spiral not a series of circular wires. At least the one attached to my dryer is. Ive never seen one that is made up of single circles of wire embedded into the covering material. On a side note that looks REALLY good.

cheers alpro, some useful tips there. i think the residual blue there is something to do with the model, rather than lighting or anything, i cant remember specifically what was wrong with the model, but theres definetly something not right.
