Hi. My questions are probably very elementry to all of you. I haven't had any prior
experience with either CAD or drafting. But here goes. I lost the opening window where
"Bryce" used to stand guard. What I get is a one dimensional window with the lines
basically being perfectly horizonal and vertical.

I also can't figure out how to reduce the size of the trees in the Windows drop-down menu.

Thanks in advance. Hal in VA.

soudns like youve changed the starting template. To change it back to 'normal' youll first want to go to 'camera-> perspective' this will change the view back into a 'normal' perspective. If you then save this blank template somewhere where it isnt going to be deleted, then go 'window->preferences->template' and browsse for the file you just saved.

this will make the saved file the default that SU loads each time you open a new document. This technique can also be used to load up lots of other thigns as well, like different backgrounds and different colour lines and line styles, although its gets a bit trickier.

give us a shout if you have trouble with anything, and welcome!

Yes, like remus says, you have probably changed your template. You can change it back where he says.

as for the trees coming from the component browser - I don't think you need to resize them too much. At lest - what I mean - they are properly sized. If they do not fit your model, the problem is most probably in your model; i.e. you are not modeling in 1:1 scale (which is highly recommended since everything that comes later is in actual scale (and everybody works in actualy scale).

You can, however scale everything with the scale tool (no pun meant).

Thank you for the super-fast solutions. I'll get back to "the drawing board" now and try them out.
