Hi folks. Don't forget that you can use "Explode curve" to transform a circle or polygon or freehand curve into a serie of edges. After that, you can delete selected edges withoout erasing the whole lot. Just ideas.

See ComponentReporter++, CutList etc for examples of CSV export... There are also several similar tools that allow you to choose a folder/filename with UI.openPanel. You can insert a consistently named CSV into an Excel XLS and format it, any changes in the CSV are updated in the XLS... If you structure your CSV logically so that the data in each line is readable then exporting it back into another Ruby should be relatively straightforward... So, for example you have a face that's exported, list its corner vertex xyz positions, layer, layer_name, attributes etc etc. When you import it you dread it line by line, the first field of the CSV tells you its a 'face', so then you expect vertex-positions so read those, turning them into numbers with to_f, each set of three of these gives a point [x,y,z], next when you get to a field called 'layer' you know the point sets are done and the next point will be a layer-name etc etc... face=entities,add_face(points_array) face.layer=layer_name etc etc

I am running in Decimal-Inches. Length snapping is turned off and precision is set to 0.000000". This is the Product Design Woodworking template. The issue seems to exist on my PC and Laptop.

Search for CutList and ComponentReporter++ What you want is quite doable, needs some thought on the actual naming, reporting etc... I suggest you post in the Plugins Forum [here] with a '[Request]' prefix - you're likely to get a better response...

Not really in the spirit of doing it from the basics but the plugin "Bool Tools" from Smustard really helps with deletion of unwanted geometry. It costs $10 but you soon save the time to make it worthwhile.

That MUST be your Windows settings, not SU itself.

Then I put these guides on a separate layer whose visibility you can turn off any time. Guides are handy for other reasons, too, as their visibility can be toggled on/off in the View menu globally as well as you can delete all construction geometry (when finished and they are not needed any more) in the whole model from the Edit menu (although keeping them on a separate layers can always be better as you may need to revise your model later) That gives me an idea, I could add something (on a separate layer) to aid the layout process and turn off that layer later.... <!-- ia3 -->PanelsWithGuides.png<!-- ia3 -->[/attachment:756gjb1f] Still not sure if this is what you need however...
(One hour later) Brilliant! The simplest things are always the best! The ovals are on their own layer for final presentation, etc. Check out the .skp, works best in Front View. Thank you! It would be interesting to be able to prevent a surface from passing through another, make it literally solid. Perhaps in Version 12. I am not sure but you could do it in two, separate pieces and put them together.

Draw 'stream' as a flat 2d 'ribbon'. Use SUp's Sandbox-Tools, to 'Stamp' it, with a suitable offset dimension, and it will make a cutting with embankments] onto any terrain you select... There are already several tutorials out there on how to do this - usually relating the roads - but if anything yours is perhaps simpler since water is often 'flat' ?

Hi Santa, That's a style setting. Open your Styles dilaog from the window menu, go to In model > Edit > Edge settings and turn off endpoints and extensions. Make other changes if you like and save the file as a template (File menu). Then in Window > Preferences > Templates, select your newly created template as default when starting a new SU model.

Yes, that's it. I never even use the corner grips at all. Just as an additional info about these mod.keys - they always toggle this functionality on any of the grips. So on the corner grip, Shift would make it NOT scale uniformly (as with that grip, that's the default scaling operation). some cool effects can be achieved with all the combinations.
