Well, after we'd suffered a while to get you properly in to the forums, I thought you would like to feel that it was worth the effort.

I guess you're right, Coen, it's better on than off. Still, but what's the difficulty of programming the option key, as it is programmed in Move, for example? Except keep it sticky, so that once it's engaged it stays that way until turned off.

that is a nice idea, magnato. running around in SU models like in an ego-shooter would be fun. perhaps that is something that can be done with a ruby script... but then it had to freeze shortcut-keys while active, so that one can use the a,w,s,d keys freely for running around. (left mouse-button is for pushing objects out of the way with sketchy physics for animation )

I can live with the extra size. Disk space is cheap. The other formats just doesn't seem to cut ut. 3ds for instance is to old it can only have meshed with less than 32K polygons and texture filenames are trunkated to the old 8.3 DOS type for naming to name a couple.

@thomthom said: There is a solar panel Dynamic Component that orient itself towards the sun. Have you seen that? No, i have not seen that component. I have read that there is a sun component that is able to cast shadows from roof overhangs, trees and such. That is why i thought it would be cool to add a reflective feature. Seems that the tough hurdles have already been done if it calculates sun position, latitude and longitude at any given time of the year. That is pretty amazing in itself. Can someone explain the function a bit and maybe do a quick tut on how it works? Thanks a whole bunch thomthom.

Yeah, Fredo is quite poetic. Fo "Tools on Surface" you have to enable "On Surface Operations" But that only makes it more interesting I think

And the Match Photo window that changes it's title to "Sketch Over" when you're in a Photo Match scene...

oh, yes. I forgot about the Homer Button. that one really gives a glimpse of what could be done... do you think I should start a ruby request or would I be banned for life time from the 'ruby discussions' section?

stefan- your problem is a perfect example of when the inferencing thinks it is smarter than you but gets very annoying! One solution to your problem is to draw a transparent plane well above your terrain. Draw your freehand lines as well as you can on the plane above, then you can drop the outline onto your terrain

Hi Pot-paris sorry it was of no use Yes you can use the CTRL key when moving, and pick the insertion point or grasp point each time. The idea with the technique was to be able to continually paste an object(and pick its grasp point), with it sticking to your cursor, as the Autocad copy function until you press exit or as in this case release CTRL&V. NB the selected object thats being copied and pasted has to be exploded, does not work with groups or components but it works OK when pasting inside groups. Quick video - don't know if that helps its my first one - sorry no sound. I agree with you "it would be marvellous, if this 'remember-last-grasping-point' function when copying and pasting could be added to groups as well"

ah, I just discovered the problem with the material naming thing. the name-input-line keeps the focus, even if you hit enter. the only way to get the focus out of it is to either change a setting of the material, choose another tool (doesn't work, if you use shortcuts of course) or click somewhere in the stage (a bit uncomfortable, because quite often at this moment the paint bucket tool is selected and you don't want to paint anything). the best way would be to type in the name and then hit enter to confirm and draw the focus away of the name! (any Googlers listening? write it down somewhere, cause unless you change it right now this is something you easily forget )

A real time viewer wouldn't be utterly useless. Rather interesting idea. Saves you from having to reload the file if you use it for reference and someone is currently working on it. Haven't tried what happens if a file is opened with the viewer. I find it highly unlikely that anyone will use it...

by the way, is there some shortcut way to jump between scenes? like pressing 'Ctrl + 1' for Scene1, 'Ctrl + 2' for Scene2...? of course it is not much of an effort pressing the tabs with your mouse - but it is a lot cooler to hit some keys instead (after all, in movies hackers always use their keyboard and not the mouse)
