Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that a new Extension for SketchUp Make or Pro called PlaceMaker is now available here:
PlaceMaker imports and optimizes OpenStreetMap data which allows you to automatically generate HUGE site context reference models with a simple mouse stroke! It can even automatically drape the models onto geo-located terrain.
With a full license, everything that PlaceMaker imports and generates can be edited within SketchUp and customized to suit your specific needs.
It also allows you to import high resolution licensed satellite imagery from DigitalGlobe over a large area, unlike SketchUp's Add Location feature which simply takes a screenshot of your map window.
You can now order a 6 month preview (free trial) or purchase a license (with early adopter discount) at http://suplacemaker.com
Please check our our FAQ for more information.
Thanks!
Dale

Dale this plugin is great, I've used the original PB for years but the ability to create my own profiles and the assembly builder really made this chain possible.
Well with the money
Thanks
Walt
Wow, thanks Walt! That is so great to hear!
Would you be interested in copy / pasting your post into a review at the EW page?

hi
how do I get curved length of rebar and quantity through sketchup?
If the rebar is modeled using Profile Builder 2 - the Quantifier can report the total (curved) length, volume, and even weight of the rebar.

The extension seems wonderful and I am trialling ATM, however it seems that there is too little information (in my part of the world) to make it really useful to me, such a pity as I was really looking forward to this.
The special introductory price (-20%) is quite an incentive, but at the asking price this will have to fire on all cylinders for me, just having the road (and in some areas also trees) info is not enough. Probably not the fault of the extension, more that of the data / services it accesses to deliver its product.
Sorry to hear that, but I understand. The building data is growing exponentially but is lagging in some areas.

Excellent news!!! I must have missed the e-mail sent to the people subscribed to your website for notifications in this...
+++EDIT+++
I read the section about the imagery tile map quota and understand that, however how large (or small) are these tiles being referred to?
Hi juju,
We haven't done the big announcement yet - we wanted to quietly roll in out over the weekend to ensure there were no issues before we do the email blast.
Good question about the tile size - we will need to add that to the FAQ.
At the maximum resolution setting, you should be able to cover 1.5 square miles with less than 50 tiles. However, the tile size is 2x larger with each change in zoom level. Therefore, just by lowering the zoom level to 'high' instead of 'max', you can reduce the number of tiles you need by a factor of 4.
PlaceMaker is now available at http://suplacemaker.com!
Hello,
We are looking for translators for our new extension PlaceMaker for the following languages:
Japanese
Italian
If you are interested, please send me a PM. Thanks!

This plugin will be free? Not free ? with free limited options...
Hi Pilou,
Sorry. Right now, I don't expect there will be a free version.

Only question I have is about building's textures.
Will it be possible or easy to import them?
I have some ideas on this but it's too early to say anything for sure. Building texture data does not exist in any publicly accessible database that I am aware of.
Here is another video with some more info from Daniel Tal:
The plugin will work with any place in the entire world but the richness of the data does vary. You can check out osmbuildings.org to see the richness of the data in your area of interest.
I'm happy to announce the we have started rolling out PlaceMaker!

Hello everybody. Here is a little example of Artisan modeling from me too, a classic chair model. It was made quite long ago, but I still like it
Love the chair! Can I add to the Artisan gallery?

Hm.. Sometimes I can't scale entities created with PB2
PB2 actually disables scaling Profile entities that were created with PB2.
Because PB2 is a parametric tool, users are encouraged to use the parametric features of PB2 to change the dimensions of the entity rather than the scale tool. When the scale tool is used, things can get messed up, especially in quantity reports.
@juju said:
Has there been an update to PB2.1? I see it is to the top of the list when i go to EW and organize plugins by "most recent", however it doesn't show in My Extensions as needing to be updated?
Hi juju,
If you have 2.1 already, there is no need to update at this time. The EW probably shows it as most recent because I made a change to the EW page.
@rv1974 said:
oops.. I misunderstood your request. I thought you're talking about vertical elements.
As workaround (for profiles) I could recommend Fredo's ' Hide All Edges'- works amazingly.
Yeah - that plugin is probably the way to go. It's a nice idea for Profile Builder but I am not sure if there would be enough people using the feature to justify putting it in.

So this thread is probably dead, but it's worth a try, anyway. I cannot purchase BoolTools on Smustard. The plugin does not show up in the SMustard's product list, but the link that's been provided to it in multiple Sketchucation threads still works. Any idea how I could get a hold of it? My free trial will run out soon, and I'd rather have a boolean plugin if possible. I'm using Sketchup 2016. Thanks!
Hi NutsandBoltz,
I chose to temporarily take Booltools off the market as it was too unstable. I hope to relaunch an update in the near future but I can not guarantee when that will happen.
