      Hi all,

Quick question, I'm helping my office roll over from Sketchup 8 to sketchup 2015. Several of the plugins we used now have exclamation points after the .rb file extension. Does this simply mean that these plugins are no longer compatible with sketchup 2015?

      Thanks!

    • RE: [Plugin] SketchUcation Tools 2.6.1

That makes sense, I don't have the same need for control here. I just want everyone to have the same starting point, it can evolve beyond that later. This doesn't help me with a solution if someone already has a profile, ie. "log out". Can you offer any suggestions there? Would re-installing sketchup work or no? I'm hesitant to do a test run and re-install anyone's sketchup before knowing what my options are and what may or may not even have an impact.

So I'm rolling out a profile/bundle of plugins as a standard starting point for an office. I've created a Profile for the office that multiple people will be able to log into in order to get the "standard" package of plugins. If they already have a sketchucation plugin store profile is there no way to allow them to log in to the office profile? What if they re-install sketchup?

      Hi All,

dumb question maybe, how do I use the plugin store extension with a different profile/how do I change my profile? I want to log into a different account.

    • Plug-In Error Cleanup

      Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping someone can give me a few pointers on an error I'm getting when I open sketchup regarding the Sketchucation plugins, see below:

Error Loading File C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/SketchUcation/sketchUcloud.rb
undefined method cloud?' for SCFapi:ModuleError Loading File C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/SketchUcation/SCF_loader.rb undefined method cloud?' for SCFapi:ModuleError Loading File !SketchUcation_loader.rb
      undefined method `cloud?' for SCFapi:Module

I'm running Windows 7 and Sketchup 8. My office will be updating to the latest sketchup very soon, but for now, this is what I have to work with.

      Thanks for any help!

This is my current list of plugins that don't work in 2014. Obviously, the list is limited to what I've been using, so it's by no means comprehensive.

      Thanks Al,

I'm using the new Vray for Sketchup but I think I might be able to adapt some of your method to accomplish what I'm after.

quick question with the LCD screens. I'm working on a LCD TV and I wanted to know if there is a way to in/decrease the amount light the image (screen material) emits without affecting the actual image's appearance. What I'm getting right now is a decent light level being emitted but the image is getting washed out. Any ideas?

    • RE: 64-bit for VISTA version and optimization for Core2 Duo proc

I really wish Sketchup would produce a 64-bit version. Especially when it comes to using things like vray to render large scenes when the 32-bit RAM cap comes in to play at 1.5~2.0GB...

      Maybe if we ask nicely?

    • RE: V-ray questions

Hey thanks for the test. Did you adjust the lighting/shadow settings?

The client was happy with the images that I got out. It was not the most design rich project I've worked on, but a great exercise to try out the new vray. There were definitely ALOT of growing pains with the new release, but I have to admit, I'm addicted to the ease of alpha transparency support.

Take a look, feedback is more than welcome. I could not have done it without the help of you guys in the forum.

    • RE: New vray

❓ ThomThom, Do you have a list, or is there a running list of problems with the new vray??

ASGVIS acknowledged a bug that I ran in to-not being able to preview your HDRI environments, they said they'll release a patch for it and a bunch of other stuff that they are getting flooded with now.

I have run in to something else, my sun disappears! When I try to set up my GI and BG environment settings, my TexSky Sun does not allow me to choose the sunlight "plugin". This is true for both my BG and GI settings. FYI, this happened after selecting none for my GI/BG settings, and then I can't get back to my earlier settings. This is not a permanent problem, but I do have to close and reopen my SU file to get the settings back. Has anyone else had this problem?

I also wouldn't recommend trying to change the font of your timestamp in the frame buffer.

Have not narrowed it down yet, but there is also something buggy about saving out some of the VFB channels-so be aware of that as well.

I've also noticed an inconsistency between renderings. Same scene setup, but sometimes it renders some of my .png components and sometime it does not.

    • RE: Landscape Plant Packs - 68 total (update w. alphas)

      Equadorian,
Are these renderings or image exports from sketchup? I ask because when I try to use them in sketchup I get a square shadow. These work great for renderings, but I'm making an AVI from sketchup and I'd like to have tree shaped shadows, not this:tree test.png

FYI, I'm still in the process of replacing my place holders, so nevermind the lampshades πŸ˜‰

    • RE: V-ray questions

I've been using vray for 3DS max for about 4 years now, I've been using VfSU for about 2 months and I'm having some issues with graininess. I haven't had this issue with max, so I'm wondering if you guys can help me.

I'm looking to get a metal material like a aluminum or steel with a powder coat finish. So something that is reflective, but not like a mirror. I'm modeling mullions and garage doors using this material. Here are some pics of the material in context:
      test 1.png

I know there are a lot of settings that effect the materials and how they render out. I've done a bunch of tests using different environment settings and I've tried several material adjustments. But if any body out there would so kind or interested in helping me out, I set up a test file using the same materials I'm using in my scene.

I want to say it's either a shadow related setting in the environment rollouts, or I'm just plain screwing up the material for some reason, either way I could use some help. Thanks!

    • RE: New vray for sketchup

So things are going pretty well with the new VfSU so far. I am still running into a problem with previewing my HDRIs. Usually I need to rotate my HDR for the environment, but when I select my HDR file I get nothing when I preview it, or to be more specific it remains black.

Is anyone else having this problem, or am I just doing something wrong?

how can i get rid of that white spots? im using irradiance as primary and light cache as secondary engine everything else as default settings.

I'm using the same primary and secondary engines and I seem to get these white spots whenever I have the reflection glossiness set to anything less than 1 (lower gets worse I think). What is the cause/solution to this?? I basically just want a material that that is reflective but not like a mirror, is that so hard? 😒

    • RE: Several Render Orders? [TUTORIAL]

I did it by setting up an animation in sketchup and then going in to the output rollout for vray and turning on animation and your frame rate as well as creating a folder to save out all of the images (that you then combine in After Effects or some movie editing program). I will say that it took me an excessive amount of time to get just a 4 second video. I had decent settings for a 2000x1000 video and at 30fps (15 fps might be good enough though) and 5+ minutes per rendering it took a looong time to come up with 4 seconds of video.

I'm curious about saving IR and other light info to be used in each frame as a time saving measure, has anyone played around with this as a more efficient way to make "vray videos".

    • RE: Several Render Orders? [TUTORIAL]

Has anyone tried the animation/batch render process using the new sketchup. I may be missing a step, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm only getting one image out, the image keeps overwriting itself, so it renders several shots but then saves over top of the same file.

Has anyone had this problem yet?

UPDATE: There is a tick box for "Include Frame Number" that I needed to click in order to render out to multiple files. That seems to have taken care of the problem.

Uninstalling everything and reinstalling seems to have taken care of the first problem. Hopefully the rest was just residual and the reinstall took care of those as well.
