Not very spectacular but SubD can make even everyday objects a lot easier to model. Organic shaped mid century modern drawer pull. Pretty common back in the day. Designed to be partially inset into the drawer front. Made attempts to model one years back. No luck. Knocked one out with SubD the other night. No problem. 👍 😎

@Mike-Amos No worries. Learning a new rendering software can be pretty challenging. You’re making steady progress. 👍

@Mike-Amos I like where you’re going with this. A few possible suggestions. Maybe add something on the island top. Perhaps a fruit bowl with some oranges and such or some coffee cups. The chairs being in such straight alignment are making me crazy. Pull one out or a bit turned perhaps. I’m not familiar at all with the lighting options in Rayscaper. I’d be inclined to soften the lighting over the stove and countertop. The light above is pretty harsh. Also you can ignore all I’ve said and it won’t hurt my feelings one bit. You go too do you. 👍

@Robert Taking a w.a.g. without actually seeing the model. This usually is the result from painting the texture on a group/component without opening it for editing.

Quick google search. Louis Van Teffelen was a Dutch designer. Looks like he was very prominent back in the day. Oh well I can’t know everyone.😬

Some late night shenanigans. Mid Century chest of drawers. Only had one reference pic. Design was attributed to Vanteefelen ? Not familiar with the name. Have to search him up. Full boat model. All drawer parts and joinery. Drawer pulls modeled with SubD. 😎

Opened an 8/9 year old file. Had been fooling about with various “rings”. The lightbulb went off and here’s the result. 😎

    • RE: Beach House

@Gus-R Agree with Mike. No point in changing things up. I’m not a tree hugger nut, just grew up in south Florida and got a bad taste for overdevelopment just to make a buck. They’ll build on the water then get mad when a hurricane knocks the house down.

Nice images. Although I’d rather see a beach with no overcrowded development. But that’s just me. 😉

@ntxdave No worries. I got the impression you might have not seen the link. It might be helpful if you get a picture in your head of something you’d like to model. Then see what info Box might have that applies. 👍

    • RE: I’ve Been “Boxed”

@ntxdave Hard to recommend any one in particular. Something can be learned from all of them. Periodically I’ll go back and surf through Box’s posts and most of the time I’ll pickup on something I haven’t really tried before and take for a spin. There’s a lot of little gems hidden in plain sight.Things like modeling primitive components that you plan on making multiple copies of and then only have to select one to SubD all of them. The thoughtful use of Copy/Array. The importance of doing your modeling based on the origin point.. Things like these are just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.

    • RE: I’ve Been “Boxed”

@ntxdave said in I’ve Been “Boxed”:

Can someone give me a reference to Box’s gif on how to do stuff like this?

ntxdave, my topic title might have been misleading. None of the models I’ve posted are exact copies of things modeled by Box in his gif’s. They are models that I did using the various modeling techniques that Box illustrates. I suppose the best thing is to go back to Box’s topic in the “tutorial” section. Rewatch as needed. Practice what he shows and then let your imagination run wild. 👍
