      Thomas,

      And there is more!
Take a look at another very interesting option: shapeways, a Dutch 3d-printing service, shipping worldwide. http://www.shapeways.com

On their support pages, amongst others, they even have a tut on using SketchUp with Shapeways : http://www.shapeways.com/tutorials/sketchup_3d_printing_export_to_stl_tutorial

      About maximum sizes: http://www.shapeways.com/about/material-options

Go to the Artifort website and order the 3d-cd.
It is for free and contains all Artifort-models in as well .3ds as .dxf format.

    • RE: [Plugin Library] LibFredo6 - v15.4d - 14 Aug 25

      Fredo,

First of all many thanks for all your wonderfull plugins. You have brought SU to a new, unprecedented, level.
Of course I follow the topics on your plugins and try to be as updated as possible, because your plugins already make part of my daily/standard SU tools.
You have just released a new version of Freescale (v2.0e) and following your advise I also downloaded the new
LibFredo6 (v3.1e). For the first time, this release contains a new folder called DEFPARAM_Dir, containing 1 (text)item. But...this file is already in my plugins folder as part of the Cadspan plugin (to prepare SU models for 3D printing).
As usual it is impossible to have 2 files with identical names in one folder........
So here's my question: can I replace the cadspan-DEFPARAM_Dir with yours, without getting into troubles with Cadspan or not? Can both plugins use that same folder without problems??
I have put 'on hold' the update of your plugins upon further info from you, so please fill me in.

    • RE: Gif Animation

On my Mac I have GIFfun from STONEdesign (http://www.stone.com).
Pretty nice piece of software, easy to work with, with nice results and.....it is free!!
Just used it to make a 3D animated Gif based 100% on 38 SU scenes.
I cann't show you the result (yet). My client doesn't allow me, because it is going to be used
on the opening page of his new website which is still 'under contruction'.
      Maybe something for you too.

    • RE: Shaping a cylinder - interesting technique

      The unexpected depts of SketchUp!
This 'feature' has always been there, but hardly anyone ever payed any attention to it....untill now.
It's fun, interesting and intriguing at the same time.
I have been playing with it for hours and created unexpected shapes and forms within minutes.
It took me some time to really 'get' the tricks shown in all of KitoRaub's videos, I replayed them a couple of times, but in fact the trick is just adding a coherent, simple, sticking, visible geometry to a 3d shape and manipulating just that geometry with standard SU functions. No rubies needed, just simple SU.
The videos show a bit of perpendicular rotation and scaling of the selection, but I have already found out it is not limited to these. More basic SU functionality can be used and combinations result in very unexpected free formed shapes.
The only thing now is to learn how to control the results of a deformation: what happens and why?
Try and error will be the road to go, but I have already found a new and easy way to create some shapes which took me qiute a hard time, untill now.
      Thanks Watkins for your finding.

    • RE: [plugins]SP3 alpha2. Win & Mac

Thank you very, very much for making your great utility available for Mac too.
Time to get started to learn and use, but........
I seem to have a problem, I get an error message restarting SU after download and installation:
      Error Loading File SketchyPhysics.rb
      Failed to load /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins/SketchyPhysics3/dl.bundle

SketchyPhysics shows in SU, aswell in the Tool Pallettes, as in the plugins and the icons are available/visible.

Any ideas to solve this problem?

    • RE: Proper animation for sketchup 7??

      Kus,

You certainly have a plugins folder on your mac (if GSU 7 or 6 is installed on your new mac).
This is where to find it:
open your harddisk --> choose Library --> Applications --> Google SketchUp 7 (or 6) --> SketchUp ---------> 'plugins' is one of the folders you find overthere.
Copy you rubys in that folder old, new. Close and restart SketchUp.
Please be carefull if you just copy all your old rubys from your PC to the mac.
Some rubys are PC-only and won't work on your mac or have to be replaced by a mac version.

      Enjoy your new mac

      Tom, Pete,

Your new plant pack will be great. You can put me on the purchase-list, already.
And, I have a wish about new 'vegetation', something hard to find: Bamboo.
The real chinese/japanees trees aswell as the lower, smaller varieties.
You would do me a great pleasure with such an addition/additions.

    • RE: Frontface&subsmooth on Mac ( solved )

      Edson,
Well, maybe that is correct, but my SU6 folder is about 16MB (138 files), includes almost all big ones (alvailable for mac) and many, many smaller ones.
My SU7 folder is still rather empty, only a few rubies, since I have decided to check them all, get rid of duplicates, the once a hardly ever use and to get back any overview, before moving them to SU7.
I will see whatever happens to my user/etc....folders, no big deal for me.
I will keep you informed if I encounter a ruby making an extra unexpected ruby-folder.

    • RE: Frontface&subsmooth on Mac ( solved )

      Strange, very strange,
We are all talking about mac's isn't it !?
Well, here my findings or better said non-findings:

I have no trace of any plugins folder in my User/Library/Application Support/ Google Sketchup X/Sketchup, neither in GSU6 not in GSU7 (both still installed and working).
I can assure you that I have never ever removed them myselve. Following this topic it was the first time I ever started looking for such a folder in User/Library etc...
I just have a plugins-folder where they have always been HD/Application Support etc...
      (Mac powerbook G4 17", OSX 10.4.11)
And........ I don't have many problems with plugins.

    • RE: Sketchup 7 Generate report and Help

      Simone,

Thanks for yours and anybody elses help, but the problem isn't solved.
The work-around for "Generate report" works (going from Dutch to English in 'get model'), but only just if I don't close SU. That language-change isn't remembered. If I re-open 'get model' for a second time (without closing SU) I am back in my native language and 'Generate report' is still working.
When I close SU and re-open again: no 'Generate report, I have to do the whole workaround again.
And....... the workaround doesn't effect the non-function of Help-Welcome to SketchUp nor Help-online Help Centre.
I have attached a few screenshots from the messages it get on my Mac. Maybe they will be of any help.

By the way, I have SUv6 still available and there everything works as normal.

    • RE: Need Someone with Solid Modeller

      Susan,

There was a topic on STL files in the forums.
That pointed to Cadspan, they still offer a free plugin to create STL-files right out of SU.
      http://www.cadspan.com/tools.
Maybe it is a solution for your problem: the plugin and/or the company itself.
I only have little experience with the plugin. I installed it only 10 days ago, because I also want to go to 3D printing right out of SU files in the near future.

      Fred,
Many thanks for your answer......and, I agree with Pete, the nice tut.
Now it is clear where I could have saved that 1,5 hour. You first build your pile of woodblocks, with a cylinder in the middle, and at the end you turn that into a nice christmas-tree. I have just learned a few SU-tricks, I will not easily forget anymore.
Thanks for taking time to make the tut.

    • RE: GSU7 and Mirror Selection (Un-Resolved)

      Dik,

      For what it is worth:
I downloaded your file, found the component and used my 'old' mirror plugin (Mirror.rb- Mirror 3.0 first made by Frank Wiesner, but tweaked by TIG since version 2,6......and still working very well, also in GSU v7 and available at any right-click action in my menu). Result: no problem at all, just a very nice mirrored copy in whatever direction/face I choose.
Maybe it is your RP...plugin, I never use it, so that limits my info.
Yes, I am a mac-user, but I have never heard of any issue about Mirror.rb on macs and/or PC's.
The only advice I can give is: use another ruby for your mirror-actions.
