Well, my first thought about 'Waybe' was alike Tig's.
Glad to hear that Jim contributed to 'Waybe'. Let's hope he was/gets payed for his contribution.
Oké, 'Waybe' seems to be more elaborated, has more tutorials and (maybe) more usefull functionality.
I have used Jim's plugin quite frequently this year, not to make papermodels, but to break SU models into parts
to make 3D polystyreen models, aswell to scale as full-size as super-oversize (A SchetchUp tutorial/workdescription
to create a real football with a diameter of more than 2 meter).
I have just downloaded the trial-version of 'Waybe'. Now I have 15 days to see if it is worth the money or whether
I will stick to Jim's free version.
At least, we have a choise between a free and a payed version.
At first site, I am not sure the new payed version will win. Jim really created a very nice and usefull ruby some time ago.

Remus,
The idea (wood plus carbonfiber) isn't new.
Take a look at http://www.jangunneweg.nl (both English and Dutch). -
RE: New Version of Hypercosm Teleporter for SketchUp
Abe,
Thanks for making you nice piece of work available for mac's too.
I downloaded the 1.0 beta version and it's now on my list of applications, but....
I guess I also should have a new item in my SketchUp 3D export list: hypercosm3D.
Nothing there.
So now I have a Hypercosm Player on my mac, but no Teleporter for my GSU files, it seems.
Is this correct or am I missing something? Please fill me in.
Concerning the Teleporter, your website only mentions a PC-version being available. -
A general THANK YOU
To all Ruby-coders in this forum,
My GSU 6 pro today (september 01, 2008) is so much more advanced than what I 'had' on the first day of this year.
And that is not due to any new version presented to us from the people in Boulder, but thanks to all additions made available to me, and all other GSU-users, by a large number of ruby-scripters.
Again, today, I downloaded 2 very usefull additions to my ruby-library.Therefore, I want to express my THANKS to all of you who have contributed to the huge expension of new possibilities and new solutions within my 'preferred' 3D software: GSU.
Of course I should have spent a little 'thank you' message, at the moment you made your plugin public.
I failed, due to many, at the end 'unimportant', reasons.
I would like to make it up to all of you with this public message, thanking everybody for his efforts and contributions.
Even though I am restricted from some very nice plugins, as a dedicated mac-user, I want to thank all of you
working on those additions, knowing the positive response they got from the GSU/SFC-communitee.
A very special thanks also goes to Didier, his plugins always include a very nice 'tutorial/explanation', apart from being a real plus! And, to conclude, there is no other forum in the whole wide webworld, besides this SketchUp Community
Forum, where you can find more real up-to-date info on GSU.
I am glad to be part of this communitee. This really is the place to be for all GSU-addicts and -pro's. I am glad you ruby-guys feel the same

RE: [WIP] Monumental Heart of Rome
Elysium,
Glad you migrated to this forum, otherwise many of us would have missed your great work. You mention this is your first post, but how long are you using SU ? This is not the work of a newby, or you must be a real SU-wizzkid.
Amazing pictures, amazing details. Just a hobby, just tuning your SU knowledge ??!!
Believe me, you are more than welcome to share your future SU-projects with us.
I look forward to be surprised, to be challanged by your great work.Greetings,

RE: [Obsolete] Joint Push Pull
Fredo,
I can just add to the rest: you have created a very nice and very usefull ruby. Thank you very much for sharing this with us. I am not an architect but a productdesigner and do a lot with double-curved shapes and surfaces in SU (6-pro), on a mac.
Today, after carefully reading your tutorial (which also is a nice piece of work), I have taken quite some time to play with your ruby and I have tested it with all kind of shapes and surfaces.
First: I am more impressed than I thought I would be. As long as you start with a clean surface, your ruby works without any problem at all. I really went to limits and over. Going over fysical limits creates impossible and unexpected shapes, but your ruby never stopped working.
Second: I can reassure you, your ruby performes without any hesitation on (my) mac.
Third: In your tutorial you mention your ruby might still be a bit slow. To my opinion, your ruby performs oke. Yes, if you start with curves, arcs, ellipses divided in 360 or more segments and create surfaces with 100,000's of edges, faces, instances your ruby needs time. But not more than others. As we all as pro-users know, such's details aren't necessary to create nice shapes in SU.
Fouth: as all tools, also your ruby has its own limits. But, in the 3D-world it is impossible to create a tool that thinks for us. Your ruby is a very usefull tool, makes quite some SU actions easier and much faster to perform. Together with existing SU functionalities (standard and rubies) it enhances the possibilities of my preferred piece of 3D software: SketchUpBy the way:
The number of powerfull and usefull ruby's is increasing rapidly and we have seen some promesing developments almost ready to become available to all of us. If they would all be packed together in nice way, we would already have a nice and powerfull new SU 7 pro. Looking at my SU screen, compaired to beginning 2007, I look at something quite different (and I feel happy about it).
Thanks to you all !!
I start thinking we are making life difficult for all those folks in Boulder, working on a really new SU 7.
What can we expect from them that will really surprice us. Of course, there are still more than enough wishes and expectations, but I am getting more and more curious.Again, Fredo, also you have contributed to my new SU screen.
Many thanks to you and all other great ruby-artist to make this possible. -
Beyond photomatch...videomatch
I first encountered this new development on the dutch SU forums.
Not available yet, but it might be close....
Take a look at

and be amazed as I was.Greetings,

RE: Google Maps Streetview function... WOW!
Gaieus,
Take a look at Amsterdam in Google Earth and you will see they don't only concentrate on the US.
Google has created about 170.000 3D volumes, almost the whole city.
Only a few are detailed, yet. Now dutch SUppers can start becoming pro's in photo-matching.
I am curious how many years it will take before all those volumes really look like homes, offices and so on.Greetings,

RE: New: HouseBuilder metric 1.2 (customizable)
Didier,
Thanks for your info.
My thinking was that my problems had to do with my file-organisation. So I followed your advice, erased all HouseBuilder files, put the Housebuilder-metric_1.2.zip in my plugins folder and unzipped.... The result (on my Mac) is a new folder (within plugins), called 'HouseBuilder_metric_1.2Folder. No HouseBuilder... files outside that folder, just that new folder. Following your info I moved the HouseBuilder_extensions.rb out of that folder into the open area of my 'plugins'.
The result I get at restarting SU is :no such file to load -- HouseBuilder/HouseBuilderTool.rbError Loading File HouseBuilder_extension.rb
private method `split' called for nil:NilClassI can understand that you have to give up now.
I try to find some other Mac-users on the forum. Maybe he/she/they can help me out.
Am I the only Mac encountering this this problem ????By the way, I looked on your own website for version 1.2 but I only found version 1.1
Don't you make it available/downloadebale overthere. Thanks and Greetings,
Ton -
RE: New: HouseBuilder metric 1.2 (customizable)
Didier,
I presume you are anything but 'completely mad'.
Indeed, Macs never use the extension .exe that is pure MS windows (why didn't I think of that).
I just tried Sketchup.find_support_file("Sketchup") in the ruby console and the result still is: nil
So, still no solution. The last hour I just tried a couple of things, but found no solution.
Could you please describe me what files (rubys and/or non-ruby) I need to/should have and where they should be located.
For now, I have, located in my plugins folder a folder HouseBuilder_metric_1.2.
This folder contains- HouseBuilder_extensions.rb
- readme.txt
- HousebuilderTool.rb
- Housebuilder.rb
- another folder called 'Housebuilder' containing:
- a number of png's and gif's
- HouseBuilder-extension.rb(gif)
- housebuilder_sections.txt
As mentioned before, everythings is within one folder. None of the ..rb files are in the plugins folder itself. Maybe that is why nothing can be found to start 'Housebuilder'.
Open for further info and tests,
Greetings,
Ton -
RE: New: HouseBuilder metric 1.2 (customizable)
Didier,
Since I have the same problem as Kmead on my Mac (with OSX 10.4.9), I followed this thread with great interest. I did what you adviced him to do. The results are: nil and Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method `+' for nil:NilClass> (eval)
But, maybe the problem is of an other nature:
It was adviced to put everything concerning HouseBuilder in a separate folder under ..../plugins. So I did. Well, this is the only ruby to be stored in this way.
There are more rubies extracting information from separate folders located in the pluginsfolder, but they all have an "open" xxxxx.rb file in the pluginsfolder (as a startingpoint !?), except Housebuilder.
I am just a 'simple' Mac SU pro user, using a lot of rubies, so anything but a ruby-specialist. The only thing I can offer is help in performing any 'test' you would ask me for.with appreciation and greetings,
Ton
