I wish sketchup replaces my skecthup 5 since the time I couldnt reinstall it into my new system. Ive been trying for years to install it hoping I could use it again.

The Philippines distributor is still asking me half the price for a new edition of sketchup. I feel in the losing side here. geez.

    • Ipad2 or Galaxy Tab

      Hello sketchies

Im caught in between the two gizmos. Which do you think is better for sketchup presentation. I heard that you can view sketchup in ipad but i havent heard from android since.

I got the galaxy ace but i tried the ipad which seems better response in sensitivity and has an almost perfect transition from one page or app to another. Or is it just a transition?

overall, my idea is just to have something for presentation carrying around rather than a laptop.

    • Blue Screen

      Hello Fellow Skecthee's

I was happy with just doing sketchup before to all my projects (although im quite impressed how people do render their work in vray), until my wife introduced me again vray for sketchup 8. We belong to a different office and thats what they use for presentation.

I was ready to use the demo version but somehow between rendering process, my screen turns blue and restarts. I know i dont have the latest hardwares but Im also a self confessed PC games addict (from time to time when there is time to kill). Do Vray demands more hardware power (video card) than my FPS (Dues ex) gaming? I do games for hours but in vray it flops for not more than 30 minutes.

Or do anyone think its the software that I should update it. I dont have constant internet since projects arent doing so well for the past 2 years.

      So...need help...

      Thanks in advance

      Keep on sketching...

    • RE: Recovering sketchup files

with all the recovery programs there outside, i got some sketchup fies recovery by using Photorec. The best thing about it? Its free... the bad thing? Its slow.....real real slow.

I just dont get it that files recovered nowadays have enumerated file names instead of the old ones before that the files recovered are close to the names originally named like pcshell before in dos format.

Anyway i hope i helped someone out there also in their bumpy journey of recovering files....

      ciao.

    • Recovering sketchup files

      hi everyone,

its been a while since i last written something in here, ive been so busy with work and a lot of sketchuping but in one incident one of my employee accidentally formatted my hard drive where all my projects are saved. Its all in saved in a networked NAS.

i know i should have a back-up for these but its a tad bit late for lecture right now. id like to get back to work as soon as possible.

i would like to ask if there are reputable recovery software that can recover sketchup files? i used "easeus" and unfortunately i didnt see sketchup files. they even have bad recover names that all files are renamed in numbers that makes my job a lot lot harder, like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

if there are any of you guys experienced a similarly situation, please reply, i need those files badly.

      thanks.

    • I bought 6gb of ram

      heyo sketcho's

its been so long since i last went here. office been so bad i have no internet connection yet that i have to go home for a connection.

anyway, i got my x2 to have only 2gb ram when i purchased it. I was suppose to buy an x4 but because of financial constraint, i decided to upgrade my x2, athlon64 and athlonxp instead. I bought additional 2-2gb ram for the x2 and made both athlon 64 and xp at 2gb ram. I thought of giving the old units one last hurrah before letting them retire for next year or 2 the most.

going back to my concern, i have total of 6gb ram for the x2 and it seems that windows xp can only read 3.25 ram or 4gb ram so it says over so many forums and in windows website as well.

does this mean i could utilize by 6gb ram all the while? or it could just read that much but it will certainly use it?

my main reason i bought these because i thought thatr it will help me with my sketchups and rendering.

i just hope someone here can have an answer or else my 2gb will just fall in a pit. geez.

i didnt want to go to vista since it will eat up more ram by just having it up and running compared to xp.

      help!!!

    • RE: Triplex

Im glad you all liked it,

i see that everything was observed especially with the person from the far right holding up the tree. I totally missed that one. I made this like a midnight to 3am perspective (i know, i suck a speed modeling).

But I like everyones comment so far, from vray or kerky, or just simple sketchup.

My students introduced to to kerky but it seem that there are too many things to adjust and I cant seem to relate how to manipulate things in there. Its like a car that has too many instrument gauges and panels....

Without speaking, I still hail all people who has the talent and patience using vray, kerky and 3dsmax very effectively.

Boy I wish I just have like 50% of their talent, man... that would make it a different ball game...

      Thanks again for the comments!!!!!

    • Triplex

Its three houses all and made to look just like one house.

Nope its not compact housing but its smaller than an average house.

      Comments are very welcome.

Maybe I should try it on vray........i'll post it soon. I got a baby boy coming out soon.

I hope I can get a Paternity leave so I could practice also.

The owner wanted to be very simple. Though I dont know if its too simple.

    • Aerial Perspective

I did this for another senior and older architect.

It used to have plenty of trees but it looked like a jungle, so deleted some of it. Its one quick job, with a bit of planning, massing and "sketchup"ing.

      Hope everyone likes it.

      Anyway, comments are always welcome.

Sketchup with a little bit of Photoshop to tear of the edges of the image.

One quick question. How do you guys manage to post hi res images?

SCF always ask me to have the images maximum of 1600x1600 pixels.

      Thanks.

It'll be much more simpler for me to just cut and paste it over microsoft word and just type over it with your font of choice.

easy eh? That what I do for fast and quick prints.
