    • RE: Help please...test rendering vray sketchup

      Hi Scott,

Its Vray for sketchup. Do they have different versions? Forgive me but I really do not know how to render yet.

This is just the few test renders I made (there are two others past projects that i previously rendered with no settings made in vray-options per se.)

As we all can see, i really need help badly. πŸ˜„

I see someone having a first time render in vray and its so awesome having their renders almost perfect. Ill check out what you said regarding the presets for vray sketchup. All those others that I see are from evermotion and for studio max.

One thing I notice that everytime I set the view into 2-point perspective (with these particular model), I always end up having a viewing half the building.... It comes back normally viewed when I click back to perspective mode.

Anyway thanks. Ill keep everyone posted.

    • Help please...test rendering vray sketchup

      Hello folks,

Ive been playing aroung vray for skecthup and it seems that this what I get.

It will be very helpful if somebody would give pointers or so. I havent figured out how to include people and landscapes. 2d people in sketchup look so fake when rendered in vray.

It seems that some renderings are left without a shadow clicked on, It makes the image real dark especially where no light can get through.

How can I make a nicer pixel rendering from here?

Is there a way to save vray setting in sketchup?

Well, I hope I can improve myself far from this. I really not content with the result of this.

    • Vray alpha files and other findings

      Hello folks,

Ive been tinkering again with vray for sketchup and have been collecting those free materials at CGI. Where am I suppose to copy these materials in order for me to apply it before rendering it using sketchup via plugins (you all know what I mean by this)

Anyway, I havent figures it out yet up to now so I made some experiment, It seem that sliding the shadow control and the fog as well will not affect the rendering output of vray. How can I see the shadows if im using vray? I dont want to lose the shadows since it gives some sort of very realistic effect. If vray cant, please respond also so I can put it in to an end and ill stop complaining about it.

Everytime I render there is always an alpha file that saves in the same folder where I save all render outputs. Whats these for?

I got to see evermotion as well and those renders are so damn good. Is there a way that I could achieve evermotion using vray for sketchup?

I got my laptop and it works fine also. Its not a powerhouse but it'll do for mobile purposes or when im out of the office (thanks to all who helped me go through with picking one)

Sorry if I did got to ask questions that was asked before. Still a newbie on sketching and 3d rendering if you all ask me.

    • RE: Some works that Ive done so far

Thanks you all who viewed my collection.

      To Ross:
Yes Im an Architect by profession and I do this for a living but for 5 years I think Im still a Neophyte. I would need a lot of PR (not just talent and a good computer πŸ˜„) to be successful in this industry.

Almost all of the churches you saw are free from my charges because these are the structures that I could really experiment the some hidden powers or abilities of skecthup and most especially if im just going around killing time. Although most of the preists appreciate my works as well.

Thank you for all the very kind words replied. I really appreciate it.

To tell you guys the truth, I never had the patience to wait for a photorealistic renderings (but i will still dip in my foot if I ever find time to play around like christmas season), you could just see it that I only use photoshop and sketchup. All realtime.

Dave's watercolor style really rocks i'll tell you \m/ 😎 . Someday I might play around also styles and share it as well.

I hope you all enjoy viewing!

    • Vray materials compatible with podium?

      Hello guys,

Ive recently downloaded a demo for podium to try my foot in it whether its more user friendly (for me) or its just the same rendering system out there.

My question is, is it easier/ nicer to render in podium using some materials for vray? Ive been trying it but it turns out to be a dead render. We all know if any rendering turns out not to be that good.

Sometimes it also left me wondering if it is just plain and simple that i just dont have the knacks for a photo-realistic rendering, just plain sketchup. Please dont get me wrong about anything, saying just plain sketchup is using just sketchup in its most extensive capabilities that I know which most of you guys know already.

Thanks in advance for any help ill get.

    • RE: PC or MAC

      To Juju and Modelhead,

Thanks guys for your comments and opinions. With that and a little bit of research, I think Ill be sticking with PC (laptop) with a vostro 1510 or studio 15.

      Im attahcing the both specs.

I think both have the same base form. So its just about the graphic cards.

Ill appreciate you opinion again on this.

      Thanks again

      modelhead,

I didnt really mean it that way. My client just always telling me that he finds that most architects in China that he meets for presentation uses mac book pro.

My pc still rocks my office of course since i could still play hardcore games in it other than sketching real smooth.

sorry if i bothered anyone with my post. Just wanted to hear from the ones that used both platform and compared it.

the mac is just so expensive than dell.

    • PC or MAC

      Hi guys,

Im in a crossroad of buying a new or refurb laptop. The thing is, I already locked my eye in a Dell Vostro 1510 or 1710. Its the cheapest bang for a buck laptop I could ever find with 256mb nvdia 8600 gs and gt respectively.

But my client is pushing me to go a new way which is a Mac. Ive been a pc for almost all my sketchup and cad life. Its not that i dont like macs but they told me that it could me more useful for my profession. Im looking into a macbook prosince its the only one that has a muscle for video since i really need it for sketchup for big projects.

Is there someone that could attest to this that using it in mac is better. Or if not, do I really need that much video muscle for a mac. Or its just the same for pc or laptop?

I would really need your advice on this.

But buttomline, whether its mac or dell, my reason for purchasing is for portable presentation, take home work and mobile sketching. I would still use my desktop for overall performance when im in my office.

Thanks in advance for all the reply.

    • RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

      Hi to everyone,

Im really glad to join here. Anyway, I joined here in my journey to try my hands in vray or kerykythea stuff as I find some works there and mixed with skecthup's sketchy style would work great(I think, I havent tried it yet).

The problem is I never plungged my hands into these photorealistic rendering ever before especially when sketchup came out (i use to draw manually with my presentations before and render it with photoshop or plain water color).

Is there any topic here that could help me start out?

Thanks. Hope I could contribute more soon as well.

    • Freeware programs

      Hi everyone,

im just new here but I hope this link will do wonders for most of the members as it did well on my end.

Although not all programs here are free but they are cheap and can still be handy.

      http://www.digitaldarknet.net/thelist/

has anyone tried pov-win, kerkythea? Im having a hard time understanding these programs as I have been used to real time rendering like sketchup.

      anyway, have fun.
