very interesting images...U did a very good job at making a fairly bare scene come to life. Congrats at accomplishing a lively scene without having to clutter it with accessories to bring it to life. The background you used is also very nice. Good work bud.

RE: Warm Exterior
I really like this but also agree with the crits. I would also consider putting some people or something in the foreground to help liven it up since it is a good majority of the scene. Its being picky, because you really do have a good image here.

RE: Itoo Forest pack for Max
adam, thanks a lot. That makes sense. I am trying to convince my office to get those plugins as well, but vray realtime is at the top of my list. Scatter looks awesome, but the least applicable in my case right now because I dont seem to get scenes that require that much vegetation. Autograss does seem a bit pricy but it certainly would make things a lot easier for many of my scenes. Another cool plugin that chaos group is working on is their own particle system. Check out their home page, because I think anyone can be a beta tester. I am really anxious to see how that pans out because I want to learn real flow, but this may be a nice substitute because real flow is a big undertaking in its own right. Thanks again for the info

RE: Itoo Forest pack for Max
Adam, that grass looks great. Seeing these vegetation solutions makes me kinda regret buying plant packages from evermotion, but then again I have yet to really incorporate them too much in a project. Regardless, if you know how to use vray proxies, then you can really create some great scenes with high poly vegetation. I have a question for you though...are you creating your proxies and storing them to use in other projects? I was hoping to start doing that for my workflow, but I am having trouble pulling them into other scenese and getting the materials to work out well. I am assuming I will have to export the multi-sub-object material and import that into my other scenes, but I have yet to test that. Have you had any success with that?
Pete...I am sure you are aware of these resources but it doesnt hurt to suggest them in case you dont know about them. Anyways, if you are really starting to get into 3ds max, I would highly recommend lynda.com or digital tutors. They have so much great content that really holds your hand through the learning process of 3d max. You obviously have to pay for a membership, but the amount of content you get (plus all the other programs like photoshop and etc..)seems endless and a bit overwhelming, but totatlly worth the investment. Plus if you have an iphone, they have apps to watch all of the content.
Thomthom, I hear ya....my office is moving to revit too and I finally got them on board with making 3ds max our primary rendering solution...we are not there just yet, but we certainly are working towards a revit to 3ds max workflow. It comforting to know though that there are others out there doing the same thing. Also, not to mention, the 3d world is definatley moving towards realtime rendering and 3ds max seems to be the modeling program at the forefront of that and I cant imageine sketchup keeping pace with that .........unfortunately

RE: Bathroom
excellent scene nektar...I love how your detailed the hell out of it with all the accessories. That really brings it to life. My only crit, and this is being really picky, is that the left side of the image looks a little over exposed and too white and you lose some of the detail. Its being picky, but that may help a little bit. But great job bud

RE: Interior Design: The Law Office of Paolo dash Pablo
love seeing how people use SU in different...very cool renderings and you look like you have a good hand for that type of illustration.

RE: Living room render Twilight
this is a very nice rendering...the furniture material is great...it looks like a microfiber type..or is it intended to be leather?

RE: Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray
thanks guys...im glad you like these and the feedback is great
Frederik: I see what you mean about the DOF. It was actually done in post production. I go back and forth between trying it with the vray camera and photoshop, but for this one I just had an extra rendering that I did and I just tried playing with it to make the view a little more interesting cause I really didnt like the original camera angle to begin with. The photography concepts are still something that I am battling with to get better at. I have never taken a photography class and I honestly have never used a camera other than a dinky little digital one. I plan to look around for more photography resources, because my only knowledge has been from reading information on vray's physical camera since they say it tries to replicate one in real life . But thanks again bud.
Unkr: Thanks. DOF does only work with a phys cam from what I know. I am not sure how it handles in the newest version, but when it gets all worked out, it should work very easily from what I would guess.
Derm: Im glad you brought up the desing, because I forgot to mention that the design is not mine. I took it from a kitchen rep. poster lying around the office and I wanted to see how closely I could match the scene since it was a practice project. Then as you see me update this (hopefully), I desinged the rest of the house around this kitchen with my own design ideas. Ur right about the toaster...I wanted make it the faucet, but it just wasnt working for me in photoshop
Solo: Thanks bud. That chick was brought up too on the ASGVIS forum and I totally see it now...she makes it look way too staged and you perfectly put that into words with your quote. And I dont think she is blended perfectly into the scene yet either and I think positioning her where i did and the fact that she is looking right at the camera doesnt help because it makes her a focal point like someone had suggested to me. The metal is a brushed material that I was practicing to make myself...it still needs work, but Teofas guided me to a really nice one that someone made that I amg goin to try in this scene.
Oli: Thanks, im glad you like it

Modern Kitchen - Renderings with New Version of Vray
These are from a side project that I am just doing for fun and to test out the new build of vray. I am actually creating an entire "beach house", but I just finished these and wanted to post them, because it probably wont be for a while until I get back to working on the rest. But I plan on updating as things go. For now though, these were created with the latest release of vray as the title explains. We all know about the bugs that the developers are working on, but I must admit, if you take those out of the equation, this version of vray is really pleasing to work with and in my opinion, the results are more predictable than they have ever been. I litterally made 2-3 adjustments in my rendering settings and I was good to go, and the material editor, although a bit slower in some aspects, was a lot more enjoyable to work with. Im not by any means saying these images are perfect, but I hope they are good enough to encourage people about the newest version, because I know the ASGVIS guys are working hard, but have been getting a lot of heat lately and as soon as these bugs get worked out, this rendering software is going to be great for everyone. I hope you all enjoy the images, and as always, critiques and feedback are welcome and appreciated.

RE: Go Team USA hockey
hell yeah bytor...lets go pens
It was bitter sweet to see that ending..I was cheering for US, but i was happy to see crosby win it. He deserves everything he gets. Eventhough the kid is younger than me, i cant help but look up to him. He works so hard and does not take his success for granted at all. Too bad Malone didnt get the gold..that would have a been another great pittsburgh tie to it all. But cant wait for the playoffs and the rest of the season to wind donw, GO PENS

RE: SU Thumbnail View on Windows 7 Question
thanks guys. Yeah thomthom your right...I guess I have to resort to importing models and seeing the thumbnails there. Hopefully they fix that somehow because that is sort of a pain in the butt to not be able to preview your files while searching our server. Thanks for the responses guys.

RE: Street Project in London
these are great. Its nice to see someone using SU along with another program other than max. good work

RE: Twilight Render Glass Conservatory + External
These are very good images and I think progress is really showing.
A few crits though...the foreground plant is too close to the camera. It could certainly work in the scene, but it is not detailed enough to be that close to the camera. I think the bump levels on some of your materials are a bit high and that combined with the noise on some of the images creates a graineness that is a bit distracting. The only other thing is the glass....morely the joints..it seems like there should be some sort of frame. I could be wrong but that system seems like you would need some sort of frame or connector pieces for it to work and I think that would help add to the realism. But you also may have a system that is as your illustrating.?
Anyways, keep up the good work and id like to see a night scene as well.

SU Thumbnail View on Windows 7 Question
I dont know if anyone else has experienced this problem, but I just got a 64bit windows 7 system and now I cant see previews of my SU models in my file folders when I switch the view type to thumdnail view. Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know of a solution?
It is just very important to my workflow because it is so much easier to see a preview of your model in the file folder before you commit to opening the file. Hope there is a way to fix this. Thanks in advance for any help. -
RE: Small bathroom remodel
Very nice renderings. I know its probably a small scene and the camera would get distorted, but id like to see more in your scenes. The views just seem too close. But great work with the materials and lighting.

RE: ..::mohos house::..
yeah these are some really great images....the way you composited the rocks and foreground and the most impressive part to me. Keep up the good work.
On crit, I think the scene would be even more dynamic if you had a true two-point perspective that had straight, up-and-down, verticles. I would definately like to see versions like that.

RE: SU + Vue
the environment is really great...maybe a bit too saturated with color though. But the beams and structural pieces need a bit more work...they just seem a bit too flat. But keep going cause u have a really great start
