Sponza style
This sponza has been done numerous times, I was experimenting with styles and i got a few nice-ish results. I will post as i get time with various different takes.
Oh...I used Podium as usual.

RE: SketchUp article in the 04/10/07 Architects' Journal
I agree with the name, it does not give justice to the product.
And frankly besides a few styles and textures I cannot see much 'sketch' in it.solo

RE: Haunted houses needed
Thanks Tom, the light house is amazing, it may just appear in a Cabot Cove-ish render.

RE: Haunted houses needed
I have checked them out, not very good modeling unfortunately. Now on this forum we have some amazing home modelers that can and have created models that come alive when rendering.

Haunted houses needed
I was wondering if anyone has a good haunted house model to share or if anyone has the time to make one for sharing. I wanted to render a series of haunted homes for my kids school function, I seem to be stuck into one style and there are many very talented modelers here that do homes way better than I could.
Thanks
(old style homes are also welcome, I do not mind fiddling and texturing)

RE: First Podium Test
That looks awesome and with the post processing it defines the lines and creates a unique style, your style.
Congratulations, and great image.

RE: First Podium Test
tinnane,
check your email, I have sent model back and explained reasons.
I rendered it in 17 mins (without using any bumps as explained in email)

RE: First Podium Test
tinnane,
What version are you using?
Version 1.5 final should be released in days, and many bugs have been attended to including disapearing textures.
If you would like feel free to email the .skp to me and i can take a look at the issues including render times. -
RE: Podium Trouble!
Using your settings and at 640 x 480 I rendered it at 26 seconds.
However I am using 1.5 b3.I will add some omni lighting now and see how it turns out.

Water with SU and render engine.
Last week there was a call for a water tutorial, I was kinda busy so today I did a very quick model with a turbulance mesh and a water bump map. I rendered it with Podium, but believe that Kerkythea users can also use this model. I use a geodesic omni light you will notice, feel free to delete it and use your own style, or if you like the way the light gets distributed feel free to use it or even save it for future use.
Instead of a drawn out tutorial (I am lazy) use the .skp and see what opacity levels, texture mapping etc I used.Hope this helps.
Due to size restriction, please find attachment here:

RE: Podium light and texture tests
LOL on the violence.
Since 'Easter Island' is taken, I give you 'Solo Island'
This render took 10 minutes.

RE: Podium light and texture tests
Thanks guys
Yup Podium has come a far way since December last year, the above were done with the new version 1.5 beta (available to all registered users) which has many new features like clipmapping (alpha maps), bump mapping, scripting, better light and sun control, recognition of front faces even if they are not all facing out etc (there are more but thats all I can remember) and it's free to anyone that owns the basic version.
As mentioned the above renders where done in 1 to 4 minutes on average, only Vivid logo was added, so these are all RAW renders.
Hopefully very soon a new texture tool and figure creator will be available (my software, independant of Podium, but within the Sketchup program) that will make mapping odd shapes a breeze as well as introducing mid size poly people into models that can be textured in detail for use in foreground requirements.
I will keep you posted.
