I first simplified the contours a bit to be able to drape at all (even from contours seemed to stall). Then closed the open ends of the parking lot and draped the road which indeed did not seem to fully drape so turned on hidden geometry to try to identify the problem. I painted the facets one by one until found out that in one of the handicapped parking lots) in the corner) there was some problem. Redrawing the edge from the corner point seemed to solve the issue. @rickgraham said: Hi all, I just purchased the Subdivide and Smooth. When it loaded, I have a series of 4 icons that are displaying completely blank. These are the SDS icons because I can click on them and they activate the plugin. Is there any known issues with this and Mac's? Or it there an EASY code fix that I can do to get them to show? Thanks in advance. Rick Hi! I use Mac too, i have the plugin Subdivide and Smooth and i see the icons. Probe to place the subsmooth_loader.rb and Subsmooth folder in this path: Users/Your Username/Applications Support/Google Sketchup 7/Sketchup/plugins If plugins folder don't exists, create it. I hope this help you, Bye!

I think it was Didier Bur who made the plugin... However, unless the edges/faces are very simply related any script will have a problem guessing which face looks where - try making three faces with a common edge to see the problem only two of them can be 'oriented' the same at any one time - the third must always be 'wrong' All faces formed 'flat' at Z=0 will automatically face down [made manually or even when scripted - an event you have to watch for and trap by reversing that face if appropriate] - it's a quirk of SUp - which assumes you want to PushPull them 'up' from Z=0 so it always points than 'downwards' so the extrusion is not made 'inside-out'. Any other flat faces face 'up'. With 3D CAD import it the facing in/out probably depends on the way the face's edges were originally created If you make shortcut keys for Reverse [say Q+shift] and Orient [say Q+alt] it makes sorting this type of thing out much easier. If it's a 'flat' plan then select one face with the required orientation [or make one 'reversed' as needed] and then Orient - all the others connected will now match. Tools like PushPull and FollowMe temporarily highlight a face below the cursor - even when it's not been selected - so you can use your shortcut keys to Reverse or Orient the Face as you are using those tools too... Also work in a Style that has front and back faces in clearly different hues and uses Monochrome mode - so you can easily see them if they are reversed - it is actually a relatively quick and painless task to get all of your model's faces the right way round early on using these methods... As Chris says if you are exporting to other 3D file formats or into many renderers you must have the faces the 'right way round' - otherwise they will fail to give the expected results...

Oh, I know my Mac can handle it - it's coming up on the one year anniversary. Word to the wise. If you are contemplating buying a Mac - WAIT until WWDC. I could have saved $300 or upgraded to the next processor for the same price since they lowered the prices day 17 after my purchase (Apple store honors 15 day returns) Rick

I have never completed any projects. I simply "abandon" them as "good enough" for the deadline (and the client).

And oh yeah -they are still making tweaks and the project is supposed to be wrapped up Monday . I should have told them I won't start a model until things are decently in place, but we all know that between architects and clients, they would still be designing the Empire State building. Rick

Hi Rick, The GE Snapshot and Terrain are imported as locked groups. You need to unlock them first (Right click or Edit menu). Then you can manipulate it just like any other groups entity; move it, enter the context and position texture etc.

If a wall is vertical for intents and purposes just use the top and bottom lines and make faces by drawing vertical edges - if these would not be quite vertical then I'd recommend making them so, by drawing vertical lines constrained in the z/blue with the shift key... You need to remove all of the walls 'contours' from the mix eventually, so group them out first, then within that group make a subgroup to draw the wall proper [top down] - later erase the unneeded other lines - but wait till you definitely don't need them - you will need to make the foot of the wall following a slope ??

Modo's render engine isn't bad, far from it. Certainly not given its price. However, it's no match for Vray or Maxwell. Have a look at the gallery over at Luxology.com. Not that many great looking interior renders in there. There's a handful, certainly, but those came into being, I'm sure, at the expense of very high render times. While I quite like Modo's renderer, I wouldn't mind an extra option.

Hi Rick, Is your model not extremely far from the SU origin? If so, try to move it to the origin, make sure there is no georeferencing info under Model info > Location and take the GE Snapshot only then.
