RE: Who knows something about Sketchupbar.com
@frederik said:
I'm not able to read anything on that web-site,
Frederik this might help a little - try pasting "http://www.sketchupbar.com/" into Google search and when it comes up with search results there is "a translate this page" option to the right of the headings it finds. Then click on this and it will translate pretty well, and as its in translation mode other pages you open from this initial page will translate as well.

RE: Soft and Smooth edges
Thanks Guys for info.
Learn something new each day, never really paid much attention to the smooth option before, so had ago and you can create some interesting effects on faces when selecting various combination's of edges to be smooth - almost creating soft shadows on faces, but not on ground.

RE: Displacement Maps
"One of the other things in our "bag of unpublished tricks" is an OpenGL viewer for SketchUp."
Al bit off topic but just thinking out loud, would it be possible to have this viewer run say on a another core, outside of sketchup and not to slow it down, especially useful with large models so you can model in wire frame etc and view your model in real time with faces, textures or whatever style you want, multiply windows would be great.
There was a thread here for multiply view ports, I don't have dual monitors, but I would have thought this would be useful to those people who do.
Obviously the speed would be need to be good and you would only be able to model in the sketchup window.
Just wondering? and trying to understand - is it only a standalone viewer.
My pathetic image (great model by the way)of what it could look like. Pete's is a lot better

RE: Texture Packs search
I presume you already have the extra bonus material pack for 6.
If not here is a Link -
RE: Hatch Patterns
Link to Auotcad style hatch patterns in skm format.
And there is NRP tools sketchy textures 30 day trial.
Link - Or create your own out of autocad. -
RE: IRender or similar
Did you notice Renderplus has this weekend brought out a new Beta test of a low cost version of IRender, now called NXtRender BasicBeta.
More importantly the site states "nXtRender Basic has a new 30-day trial version". It does not seem to have a water mark during the trial, so that might help you with your deadline. There is also the free evaluation from Su Podium.

RE: A model with baked textures
It might have something to do with this.

To get a quick translation, copy above into Google, do a search, then select "translate this page". You should then be able to read other linked translated pages as well.

It is very easy to use. Can't wait until next competition. I didn't see your submission in the pics Al put up?
Did you purchase after using trial version?
Were the tress made using the Tree maker?
Like the richness of the colours in the image aswell -
RE: Google....give us back our back button[SOLVED]
There is a component browser as part of RpToolswhich has a 30 day trial. $75 after that
Nb This just browsers the component directory at the moment, but there has been a requested to allow it to search your computer. It also can also search 3d warehouse.
PS You can also use mouse to spin and orbit the component by dragging on the image preview.(EDIT) I wonder if Al could separate it from the other tools it and sell it at a reduced price, until we get the back button back
