Hurray.... made it home at third attempt, but at times it was touch and go with abandoned cars, wall collapses and not to mention roads under 2-3 foot of water, and would you believe it there was one of those red amphibious car at Upton.
I just hope that everybody else make it home safe.
Alan I had honesty considered getting one of those amphibious cars a couple of years ago as there is a quay very near where I live and one next to where I work but judging by the speed of the river at the moment it would be a quick journey home, but up stream to work would have been very interesting. http://www.amphicars.com/
Well I still can't get home, but a least your posts have kept me amused.
Just went down to look at the Severn and its higher than it was in 1874, and the peaks meant to be tomorrow afternoon, with more rain forecast!!
11.20pm You don't want to come any where near Worcester (UK) at the moment. Crazy weather. The motorways are at a standstill all the local roads are under water. I tried but have been turned back due to the county lanes I use being under 6 foot of water!!!!! Theres been a 3 hour power cut but having just spoken to my family and found they are safe I've decided to spend the night at the Office. Hopefully it will improve in the morning. I'm very used to floods living near Upton upon Severn, but this is crazy....beyond the pail.... so as to speak.
You're right Scotty they are very addictive, its almost like collecting beer mats, you just have to get the next one . Then I get into what if I try this setting or that setting, check out the forums for tips etc. and then hey the days gone! :esurp:

Hi Scotty
Yep I use it and others renders and it works just fine. See thread. http://www.sketchucation.com/scf/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2130
I particularity use the pdf creator.
If there is any problems, AL and Rich are very much on the case and get a fix out quick if needed.
Don't know why there are not more postings here, suppose the uses must be a quiet bunch.
The Irender gallery has some excellent exampleshttp://forums.renderplus.com/gallery/ particularly look at Jaktavia and pat at gsarchitectsllc. I would also have a look at the Accurender site http://gallery.mcneel.com/?g=43 as Irender is based on this.
NB Accurender is developing new render engine nXt, and I believe Al is looking a integrating this into Irender in the future.
I have no preference for Irender and I suspect like others if you "lurk" on various sites as I do you will quickly see a small group of people who are generally use most of them, and others who are rightly passionate and vociferous about the engines they use, and put a great deal of effort and time into their development, making it all the better for use sketchup users.
I'm been using KT at the moment, and a have toyed with podium and vray and I'm just waiting for the modo sketchup plugin, and will probably buy it. I wanted to down load the evaluation copy, but you can't because of the huge take up of the latest 301 version. It what sails your boat.
The reason I cannot post more and have not posted recently is
1.Client confidentiality agreements, they own the bragging rights.
2.I have just recently change firms over last the 2 months etc so I can do more design and rendering, but the work so far has been for same clients Boo!!which has meant I have not had the time to produce the lighting TUT.
PS I understand what you are saying, and I would like to see more Irender items.
I see the posting of renders from any rendering engine not as bragging but to aspire to and learn from, and get feedback from the knowledgeable community out there. It keeps me abreast of the way they are developing and how I could use them.

Thanks you all for your kind comments. itβs the first render I have been truly happy with, but there is always room for improvement.
Iβve really just started exploring the possibilities of IRender Plus with the soft shadows, bump mats, procedural textures etc, and am gradually working through the Accurender tuts as IRender is based on this program.
This was my first go at using the interior lighting tut, I found on the Accurender site
Biebel to answer your queries
There are a few good examples on the IRender site http://forums.renderplus.com/gallery/, which are improving all the time.
I tend to look at the Accurender http://gallery.mcneel.com/?g=43site for a pointer to what IRender is really capable of. Accurender have just updated their gallery this weekend.
The work flow - import Autocad if necessary - model in Sketchup, set material reflections, glow, lights etc in Sketchup with IRender, adjust settings ie chose Sketchup settings and or environs in IRender, or a mixture, and then choose radiosity, followed by raytrace, or just raytrace.
You can save the environs etc and re load for another model. There was no post tweaking to the render, but you can use the tone operator. I just used the default setting
Iβm in the process of producing a tut for this render to show the settings used, it will give you more of an idea of my workflow.
I donβt know what the render time was, as it was running in the background while I did my real work designing pubs in Autocad LT. Iβll re render to find out. I very rarely get the chance to use Sketchup and IRender.
Oh and would you believe it, the very very first IRender I did just appeared in Oct 3D World magazine, in a review of Vray with a comparison of the basic IRender and TurboSketch Studio, fame at last!!, but anonymously as no credits, but that may be a good thing. It seems a little unfair as in my opinion they should have compared Vray to IRender Plus.
NB For people using Macs Oct 3D World has the full Cheetah3d 2.6.1 CD included.

IRender image based on accurender lighting tut by Peter Milner at accustudio, and trying out softness to shadows.
When I get some time I'll do one based on Sketchup and IRender. If that will help anybody?

Here a few other links to read up about accurender, which will help with IRender
http://en.wiki.mcneel.com/default.aspx/McNeel/AccuRenderHome.html
and
http://www.accustudio.com/ look in the forum area.
I would guess IRender is based on AR3

I've used it a lot for tips when IRender first came out, particularly when using accurender textures, and car paints etc. Take a look at New Accurender 4. Looks very interesting with gobal illumination, coMOTION, and HDRI environs etc, I hope these will become available in IRender eventually.

Hi lapx
I had exactly the same problem,, but only discovered it when exporting jegs etc. to test max export size. It also got worse and worse the more I tried to export, eventually it got very upset with dlls etc apparently missing.
The missing exporters seemed to be the extra ones ones you get with Pro i.e. Autcad etc.
So for some reason it appears that when I download latest maintenance release back in Dec it looks like Pro it says its Pro but it is infact the free version. Maybe I had download the free version in haste
Anyway easy fix. I downloaded latest maintenance release again making sure its was for Pro(the second one down, I think I may have picked the one at the top of the list ), and then just ran it, which just updated sketchup on my machine. That fixed my problem straight away.
It don't know how this will affect your custom settings. My settings all stayed the same. , but may be you have a different set up.

Thanks Ypnos.
I just download and tried it on some my renders and its worked wonders.... and its free!
Thanks again.

Hi Burkhard
If you don't mind I have copied your original post over to the RPS forum in the 3D PDF Forum
Richcat
I tried this out of interest.
I very very rarely use this as nearly all my work is rendered.
Results
AA off, export highest quality to .jpg.......I max out at 9770 pix. wide. The max I have ever used is 3000
AA off, export to .tif......I max out at 2140 pix. wide.

Hi Burkhard
By portable I presume you mean could it ported to be made to work on a Mac.
I've had a look at the RPS Forum and RPS Wiki, but no luck there.
I'm sure Al Hart will soon see this and give you a definitive answer as he is really the only person who could tell you.

Thank you
They will prove of great use, particularly the interior plants and pots
