@panixia For PMs we will offer a solution to download them as CSV files
All the forums are still there but with the sheer volume of permissions we had it was easier to just set some general permissions here. We will restore fully once this bedding in period lapses.
That said we will be nuking subforums and merging forums for better clarity.
So far we are happy with the reception. We were expecting some frustrations but @rv1974 is not happy unless he is unhappy
Epic makes such good acquisitions then immediately lowers prices. Reality Capture is free is you are under 1mil in revenue. It's safe to say that's the majority of the users.
The have repeated this price lowering for every acquisition. They'll be #1 player in visualisation eventually. I wouldn't be surprised if they launched a modelling environment at some point too.
@Box said in A piece from my real job, not really sketchup related.:

So my Opel Combo rate must be low! Can I get my avatar in 1mx1m?
Really lovely work though. So unique and personal.
Can't remember the original company's name that developed TM. But Epic obviously saw a very robust and clever use of UE to acquire it.
Epic has a long tradition on either acquiring tech and reducing costs to buy or making it free. So I would be confident they won't reverse course.
I don't use it so if they do change I won't be sore...
I just want SketchUp to remove the yearly charge and let me purchase perpetual as I see fit.
FreeCAD - https://www.freecad.org/features.php
Docs are lacking so its a bit hard to begin with but might be suited to your needs
FreeCAD's Draft Workbench acts as a bridge between 2D drafting and 3D modeling, making it unique compared to traditional 2D CAD systems like AutoCAD. While FreeCAD...

@Box Wow! That's amazing.
How do you price a job? Per m/sq
There's no fear your skill can be replaced by AI. Are you passing on the skill to an apprentice? We've a few people here still doing it here.
Our school, ran by the christian brotherhood, had Harry Clarke panels which were later auctioned off. But his work is still all over the country.
The caustics in the 3rd to last image is glorious. Thanks for sharing those. Mind blowingly good. Is the sketch yours too or is it someone elses concept?
The app you use is simply your instrument. Find the one you like to play.
SketchUp can't be Rhino-esque but Rhino can add SketchUp like vibes. You get alot more bang for your buck out of Rhino and its also a perpetual license.
I was fortunate enough to test this prior to release. For small teams its gamechanger. Syncing changes to a model is effortless.
How it handles pushing notifications amongst the team is cleverly handled so every one is in the loop. Even for client work where your client also uses SketchUp it's a great way to share progress and collaborate.
Thanks Fredo
Could you imagine if SU had these type of tools!
I'd love it. But it would completely cripple the viewport and user experience.

@Rich-O-Brien thanks, and were exactly they will be saved?
I will share my screen, as it is slightly different.
Materials are saved here...
C:\Users\SomeName\AppData\Roaming\Rayscaper\UserAssets
To import materials you use this menu...

If anybody wishes to come and visit I will buy you a beer
Great, can you book the flights. I'll be there for Friday
Try Tools > Sandbox > Smoove on a subdivided plane.

Or extensions like FredoSketch or Vertex Tools allow for a more precise manipulation.
Add thickness later
@Jerome_971 Ok, so the first 2 errors are the icon JS which can be resolved if we host icons on our servers. The disadvantage to this is all users would experience slower loading times.
What are your thoughts on fixing it for users on a seven year old version of SketchUp?
We will take a look and see if we can come up with a fix. But time marches on and the sun is setting for SketchUp Make users and we have zero control over that aspect I'm afraid.
Storms are rough enough. Can't imagine what its like when you live on a boat on the coast.
Stay safe bud. Some serious wind speeds are showing up on Ventusky

I agree, subdivision works for both organic forms and hard surface forms. You can be incredibly accurate in term of dimensions
But at least tell the truth. This is for painting your toenails.
FreeCAD 1.0 released with the Arch and BIM Workbenches now merged. Still no SKP import support but DAE is supported.
FreeCAD, the open source 3D parametric modeler
(www.freecad.org)
I've used it in the past for FEM analysis and found it pretty good.
Can't complain at the price either....free
Excellence is not an act, but a habit.
@Jaques69 Execute your boolean operation to generate the gaps

Extract the profile, inset(Offset Tool) and then extrude(Follow Me Tool)

There's a few other ways but this would be my suggestion
