RE: Best way to import round acad drawings into SU?
From Acad export it as 3ds. in the export options turn off the Autosmoothing. Importing this 3ds file into SketchUp will give you much better results. If you don't have the option of exporting to 3ds in your version of AutoCAD, there is a free plugin file available at Autodesk web site which allows you to export it to 3ds format. Hope this helps

Vista 64 bit - SU thumbnails not showing
Hello everybody!
I know this subject has been beaten before. Has this problem of SU thumbnails not showing in Explorer in Vista 64 bit solved now? If so please tell me how it is solved.
Thanks in advance

RE: SketchUP 7 - Vista 64 bit problem
Thank you Remus and Thomthom, I copied the model and pasted it in another new file in SU6. But this has not solved the problem. This is happening only with this particular file. Anyway, I shall manage with SU6 for this file.
Because of my slow internet connection I am unable to upload the file.

SketchUP 7 - Vista 64 bit problem
Hello everybody,
I have recently installed SketchUP 7 on my laptop which came with Vista 64 bit pre-installed. Yesterday I had problem with a particular file (which is 31 MB size). I get the message "File open failed". This same file opens perfectly on SketchUP 6 installed on this same machine. I even un-installed SU7 and re-installed it. Still the same problem persists. I am unable to post the file because of it's big size. But since it is opening in SU6, the problem is not with the file. Can somebody throw any light on this? (By the way, this laptop has a GeForce Go 7400 card, 3 Gig RAM. Also this file opens well in my desktop which has XP).
Thanks in advance

RE: 2D Graphics Export from SU - resolution restricted
Thank you very much thomthom, it is now working fine even beyond 7000 pixels and is really much, much faster. Yes, the AA was on in both the machines.

RE: 2D Graphics Export from SU - resolution restricted
Thank you thomthom, yes, I am exporting with AA on. Which AA do you mean? On the export menu or do you mean whether I have my AA turned on in OpenGL? In fact both are turned on.

2D Graphics Export from SU - resolution restricted
Hello everybody
I have a peculiar problem. On my desktop computer (Intel Core2 Duo 1.83 Ghz, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8800GT with 512 MB DDR3 RAM) it is not possible to export an image (as 2D Graphics export) higher than 4000 pixels even with a simple file. But at the same time on my Laptop (which is only a Celeron 1.3 Ghz, 768 MB DDR2 RAM, ATI graphics with 64 MB shared memory) it is possible to export upto 5000 pixels - but not beyond that. In both the cases the JPEG quality was at the highest and anti-aliasing turned on.
Any clue as to what is happening? I have the SU6 & SU7 free versions on both the machines.
Thanks in advance

RE: Announcing Thea Render
Thanks Giannis and the KT Team for having provided a great free renderer ansd still keeping KT free.
I am sure that Thea is going to have a bright future. I hope that the price is affordable by me. ( I still use SU FREE as SU Pro is unaffordable to me). With great regards

RE: Importation Arc, Circle, from Autocad
Imported AutoCAD curves is always hell in sketchUP. Better to model the curves in SU itself. Also if you have too many curved surfaces, then importing in SU, I have found there are problems with other surfaces also. Even the boxes behave strangely. The surfaces start flickering when you orbit the model.

RE: Screen distorted_URGENT HELP!
Hi h4zel
Forceware version 169.21 should certainly work out for you. Google search for this and you'll get the download. I had this same problem with my 8600GT & 8800GT cards in my home & office computers respectively. The problem disappeared after I installed this older version of drivers (Windows XP).
Hope this helps.

RE: AutoCAD to SketchUP - problems with curved surfaces
Now-a-days I am not having much problem from autoCAD files imported to SU. Things are quite fine. There is also another trick which came from one of the forums - scale the AutoCAD model - say a 100 times. After importing into SU scale down by 100. You may even scale up to 1000 and then scale down in SU. This sorts out quite a lot of problems in curved surfaces. Also i have tried scaling up by 500 and then export as 3ds with Autosmooth turned off. Then import it in SU and scale down. Use the smoothing option in SU . This way it will be possible to pick the entire surface to apply texture.
