There are some tutorials on just this type of leg. Try a search on cabriole leg.

    • RE: The SCF Guides to Post Processing [TUTORIAL]

I just found this. That was a remarkable tutorial. It looks like a lot of work and so I'm not totally surprised to not find the 2nd installment.

Thanks for the absolute brilliant tutorial.

      Ron,

Thanks for all your wonderful brackets. I'm adding 4 of my own, it only seems fitting to put them here.

      Best.

    • RE: So what's in 6.4.112?

I've been reading this thread with great interest. I have an older machine at home (at least 5 years old, that is being replaced shortly with one that's in the mail): Pentium 4 CPU, 2.2GHz, 1 GIG of Ram, and an after market nVidia Card with 128 MB. Most versions of Sketchup 6 have run OK, sometimes downright well. Verson 5 ran rather well. Layout can lag sometimes. After this last upgrade it truly was lagging like it never has done before. I mean seconds to respond to an Icon Click. This was truly depressing.

I did like the trick of kicking up the "Set Priority" to "High" of the "Sketchup.exe" Process in the Windows Task Manager. I did not know about that. I also learned from this thread of "Ending Processes" that I don't need to have running constantly. For instance on my system processes related to System Mechanic do not need to be running all the time. But these did not help my situation.

Prior to this thread I had learned to judiciously turn layers off, so that I am only working on a portion of the model. I have occasionally turned down the "Color Quality" from "Highest (32 bit)" to "Medium (16 bit)" this usually gave a performance boost. And that was acceptable to me because I could always raise the "Color Quality" again for exporting or for printing. These techniques did nothing for my lagging speed in 6.4.112.

I did have a major boost in speed performance this time around by downloading the latest video driver. I ran the uninstall program for the program then installed the latest graphics driver software. If you need more performance adjust the "3d Performance" setting to a medium setting between "Performance" and "Quality". Play around with this setting until you get something you can work with.

      Best of Luck.

Ron, awesome collection of moldings. Having been a trim carpenter for more than 25 years, I just love moldings. I certainly appreciate the time, the effort, and the generosity. Many thanks.

      Watkins,

Great little tutorial about the align tool. I've needed to use this tool and was a little baffled on how to use it. Thanks.

    • RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Arch in a curved wall.

There was a good tip recently that relates to this tutorial. By using the "from Countours" tool from the "sandbox group" you can quickly and automatically stitch the area at the bottom of the arch.

Select the two arcs that define the curve, select the "from Contours" tool and the curves become stitched. Clean up the excess stitching, and finish by smoothing the surface.

    • RE: Wanted: styles on the market

Sounds like a good idea to me E.M. Perhaps this is an area Smustard could expand on. Or perhaps FormFonts would consider selling items by the piece.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

    • RE: Auto-Dimensioning

Yes, I looked for that thread in the old Sketchup forums, and could not find it. It was a person/company working on auto-dimensioning for Sketchup and AutoCad. I was keenly interested in this.

Was it a ruby script, perhaps. They didn't say.

Is that what your were asking about Baker518?

    • Lock in a view

I'd like to be able to occasionally lock in a plan or elevation view. Work only in that view then turn off the locked view.
