I am spanish, as you can see 😄 I believe I installed it well... I uncompressed it into the plugins folder, the archives appear like the instructions of the pdf.

      Thanks for your plugins.

      TRANSLATION TO ENGLISH:

      @unknownuser said:

Sorry for speaking in spanish but I don't speak english, although I understand a bit.

I would like to know if you can help me.

Does someone knows how to transform the toolbars in drop menus like the photo I send you?

I obtained the image in the tutorial of Peter Stooper (SOLO) in these pages (it's very good). I apologize for using this (I don't understand what he refers in spanish) but I ned it as an example. Thank you. Carlos.

    • RE: Google Sketchup Pro 7 is out

I have a doubt about the patents. The patents like the one that doesn't allow Google to fix the shadow bug... are just for the United States?

If so, there is a solution for the rest of the world. Implement the fix, and in the United States don't allow to download a version with the bug solved. Google does it very well with youtube, I can't see the italian videos of Ancient Rome by RAI 😢

If the problem is what I say, patents are very dangerous if they can be used like this. I am going to patent the "+" symbol. See you later! 🤣

    • RE: Google Sketchup Pro 7 is out

I just made some orbits with my model of Roman Theatre (2.000.000 faces). I believe that I saw a small increment in speed. But it's something subjective. I use a q6600 with 4 cpus and I see that there are not improvements in that field. It would have helped me a lot.

Perhaps Dynamic Components may have helped me when I was modelling the cavea (the seats). I don't know if they work well with curves as I haven't tested it.

Textures are sharper, but to be honest, I usually render the model with kerkythea and I don't know if this would influence the final result in kerky.

      These are my first impressions.

This plugin would be perfect for modelling some of the geometric figures of the church of the "Sagrada Familia" of Gaudí, in Barcelona... If I could live for 200 years I would start to think about making some parts in sketchup... 😆

      @frank_n said:

Hi, and thanks for the help

I was also afraid that i had to use silo or another program to do this. I tried Silo a few weeks ago, and it looks awesome!!!

My only concern is that i will loose all my materials if i export it to Silo or belnder and then back to SU, since i will have to do this as an .obj file (right? or is there some smarter way to do this using Silo). It would be a pain to apply materials to a whole subdivided model in SU. Also, how about UV mapping in SU with all these faces...
Or does it import the UV's set in Silo? (or blender)

Is it possible to subdivide planes or other object with Whaats plugin without smoothing? Because that would be pretty much the best solution so it would be possible to keep the original material settings.

I can't help you, sorry. As I told you I want to learn blender, and at this moment I am not an expert importing and exporting models from SU to Blender and vice versa. I don't know anything about textures in Blender. Anyway Whaat's plugin is cheap... I don't know if it does what you want, but if the answer is yes, If I were you I would buy it, if you are so interested.

    • RE: Ruby (or other way) to subdivide for displacement

      Use Blender. http://www.blender.org/

Use the plugin for .obj exporter if you don't use the professional version of sketchup.

Then import the generated .obj file in blender.

You must use the "decimate" function:

      302 Found

      favicon

You can increase or decrease the resolution. After that, export it to 3DS and open the model with sketchup, or better with the plugin OBJ importer.

I did it only once, so I don't remember the process, but I started to learn Blender. In half an hour I learned and made it.

I told you to use .obj to export and import because it gave me better results.

      Hope it helps.

    • RE: Truespace 7.6 FREE

I won't register and download it for the moment.

Why do they want my phone number and name? Will this version of Truespace install the known Microsoft spyware? Does it workis with wine in Ubuntu?

At this moment I won't work with truespace. I have to do some roman sculptures in a future (it depends of my real world work, 3D for me is a hobby. Next months are crucial and I expect to have less free time). But If I am delayed in my project, I hope that sketchup "turns organic". Some features for making people and animals would be great. And, in fact, I prefer Blender as that software is free, and you don't have to give personal data.

Perhaps I am a maniatic (well, I am convinced of that 💚 ) But at this momment I am not going to download it. Anyway competition is good. People of Sketchup will work harder 😄

Thanks... but I was asking for walls... and in the photos I only saw floors. I know that it's very difficult to find anything appart from The Panteon.

On the other hand is an advantage, as anybody can tell me that my work is not ok 💚

I thank you a lot Gaieus. I believe you are really interested in the theatre.

Ah... and I believe that I didn't link the pages with a lot of photos of the new Museum, you have them here:

And photos of the bull ring that is being dismantled partially because it is placed over the amphitheatre. I believe that a new excavation is going to start there:

And finally the excavations on the "Molinete" (Little wind mill) hill. At the top of that hill, Amilcar, father of Anibal, had its palace. But the ruins that are being excavated now are roman.

^^ In some pdfs I have read that there were marble slabs (today I learned a new word 😄 ), cipollino and others. I am wondering (apart from The Panteon) what other examples of roman walls with marble can be usefull for me... I am looking for inspiration.

I have the weird feeling that these words should be in dativus instead of ablativus but I know those Hispanic were weirdos those days as well! 😄 😄 😄

Anyway, I like the bronze railing of the window. It could be wood or iron as well but definitely not marble IMO (just because it would be harder to make).

I would, however make some structure (maybe a segment arch) above the window to support the wall above it.

My latin was always limited (one year when I was 16) and is a bit... rusty 😄 . Rosa rosae. Ave Caesar morituri te salutant = Las Aves del Cesar mueren por falta de salud (The birds of Cesar are dying because of a lack of health) 💚 💚

Respect the arch... I had the same idea, that is exactly one of the things I have to do in a future with that window. But it depends of the future ornaments around the window. I don't think that the original theatre was like that. There were marbles and that stuff... you know.

The bronze texture is not definitive, I don't like it, there is a pattern. In fact I must ask you about the window. I knew I wanted to do that window, but... Which material? Bronze? Wood? Marble? Iron?

I don't know... Your help or your opinion about roman windows will be very appreciated 😆 😆 😆
