Would be interesting to me. What would be involved? BTW many of my models are pretty big files......

On another note, I tried it on my iPad and since there is currently no touch support after I clicked on the picture, some of them would load but of course I could not do anything then. Some of them did not show after the load. The 2nd one (cartoon) did show up but because of the touch issue, I could not do anything with it.

Not at the moment. It is still alpha

Understand.......I look forward to your tool. I have tested CL3VER and Spread3D which has a little bit more of a "presentation" focus but I started out looking for the ability to view Sketchup models without the need for a plugin. My focus was in being able to provide links on a web page that would allow me to access our models at a convention. The idea (for us) was to have a web page that listed various models/versions (we build car washes) that we could then show potential customers in full 3d.

I have not tried this on my iPad yet but I will go off and do it and see what happens.

Hope you will keep us all up-to-date as I see this as being VERY interesting. As I said before, it would also be neat if you could use the viewer inside something like PowerPoint.

And yes, having full touch support would be neat also (particularly on the iPad or at the convention).

Works in Chrome and IE 11........

Interesting piece of software. Is this something that is available somewhere? Can/will you supply any details about the software.

The only model I have any problem with is the 2nd one (little chick cartoon). It always loads as all black.

Some times I have to click a 2nd time in IE to get to see it (once to load it then the 2nd time to view it in 3d).

It would be really neat if you could use this viewer in something like PowerPoint πŸ˜„

Try changing the set up for Windows by going to Personalization > Display > Medium resolution (125%).

Makes everything a little larger but does not seem to affect the quality of things on the screen.

As long as you don't mind the missing edges on rounded objects...

As for saving the style in the Default styles folder, you'll have to use Windows Explorer and navigate to the Styles folder in the Program Files/SketchUp 2015 folder and change the permissions to allow you to write to the folder. It's the same issue we used to have with Plugins.

By the way, maybe you could update your profile to indicate SU2015.

Updated my profile (left it a Beginner though πŸ˜„ ). I also updated the permissions for the styles folder and that worked fine......

So far I have not noticed any problem with rounded edges. If I do, I will go change it.

Yes. Open the secondary pane and set it to the Default folder. Set the Primary Pane to In Model. Click and drag the icon for the style from the In Model library to the Default library.

Hate to be a pain.........but I have tried that numerous times and it does not work. See the screen shot below (I tried dragging from the Primary Pane to the Default....notice that it never shows up in the default folder.

I have been using SU for over a year now and have been watching some tutorials to pick up tips on things I do not normally use......picked up some really interesting tips and learning some short cuts that should help me in the future.

The unchecked profile option has been working fine for me (so far) and I do seem to see some improvements in speed.

I think you've induced your problems by setting such coarse precision and enabling Length Snapping. I could duplicate the line thing you described until I improved the precision and unticked Length Snapping.

As for Profiles, you can turn them off but keep in mind that anything with a rounded surface and smoothed/softened edges won't display edges at all. I don't think you'll see any difference in performance with them off compared to on.

I appreciate this and will be a little more careful with those things in the future. I appreciate you reply........

Is there a way for me to store my default style in the Default Styles folder?

Not exactly sure what has been going on but I pulled up a drawing I did earlier today, did a Select All, deleted everything in the file and saved it as my default template and now everything is back to normal........

Not sure what the heck I did before that caused all of the problems.........

You shouldn't be able to set Profiles to 0. I don't know why you would do that in the first place but when I try, I get a message directing me to choose an integer between 1 and 20.

It sounds to me as if you've got something corrupted. I'd start by disabling the Plugins folder and see if you see any difference.

Is there some hidden geometry in your template perhaps at a great distance from the origin or maybe very large? Why don't you post your template and we can see if we can duplicate the problem.

      It is attached..........

BTW - I misspoke, I just have Profiles unchecked (not set to 0). I read/saw something that said that was something you could do for performance.....

A style or template change couldn't cause that. Is it possible you also installed any plugins recently?

The last plugin I installed was a week or so ago.....I am sure it was not that. I if I edited Profiles in the templat and set it to 0 could it be that?

I have been seeing other problems lately as well. Lot of clipping been going on and sometimes if I do a Ctrl-Z to undo something I get random faces at the origin point. Beginning to concern me. I am running he 64bit 2015 on Win 8.1

One other thing I can think of is that I tried to chage the Units setting.....

Aslo, I would like to save my default style in the Default styles folder but have not been able to drag it to that foler......

I messed around with my default template and suddenly I have a major problem.

I can only draw items starting from the origin point or attached to an existing face. I do not know what I did but suddenly if I try to draw "in space" - somewhere other than the document origin point, nothing happens......

    • RE: [Plugin] Extended Views v1.2 UPDATE May 23, 2013

I like the plugin because I find that I need to view from the bottom fairly often which the standard views does not do. However, I am wondering if it could be made to use my zoom setting instead of always Zoom to Extent. Since I started using it, I always wind up having to zoom back in to where I was instead or it just "rotating" he camera to view from the bottom.

If this is not realistic, just let me know.........

Never apply textures to an entire group/component at once. Open the group-->apply the texture to a face-->rotate it-->pick the paint bucket tool-->alt+click on the face with the texture-->paint the adiacent face-->alt+click on that face and pick the adiacent face and so on.

Well, I did some more testing and this time I got the eye dropper to work so I did not have to use the alt+click methond (which BTW worked). I created my box. Applied the texture and then rotated it. Once again, after rotating I used the eye dropper to click on the rotated texture. I then just clicked on an additional face and it applied the rotated texture. I also tried a second time by doing the first 2 steps, then just selected the entire box (did not make it a group) and when I used the paint bucket while the entire box was selected, it applied the rotated texture to all sides........

Makes me wonder what I did the first time that the eye dropper method did not work........

I really appreciate the feed back from you and cotty......

This update [M1 -- 15.1...] is more in the nature of a 'hotfix'...
      [Says Trimble]
So it does not register as an update if you check from within SketchUp 2015.
Their logic is... if you get to the point where you can check for an update within SketchUp v2015, then it has not done a BugSplat as it opened - so you don't need the update !
If you already have v2015 loading and working OK then 15.0... is fine - no need to update !
If you have BugSplats when running v2015 then download and install 15.1... from the ../downloads/all link I already provided in an earlier post...

Yeah, After I went back and reread some of the posts I see no need for me to update..

I will continue having fun with what I have....

    • RE: Rotate texture

I have another question related to the topic. I can rotate a texture without a problem but I cannot then apply the rotated texture to multiple faces.

To keep it easy, I created a box and made it a group. I then applied a wooden texture to one of the faces of the box. I rotated the texture so that the grain ran horizontal to the ground rather than vertical. I wanted to then apply that rotated texture to the other faces of the box. I tried using the eye dropper to copy the texture but when I then clicked on another side the texture was applied to the new face in the vertical orientation instead of the horizontal orientation.

I have also tried to just select the box (group) and apply the wood texture which was OK because it applied the texture to the entire box. However, when I then went to rotate the texture I could not see the Transform Texture selection in the context menu.

Is there a way to do this that I am just missing?

If you download the appropriate installer from the usual SketchUp pages, then you will find it's now 15.1...
But currently Trimble have not been able to update their Release Notes which still speak of 15.0...

I understand that the main changes were made to fix issues experienced by a few PC/MAC users who could not install 15.0... without a crash ! and to fix another rare crash with some users when trying some Layout fly-outs...

You can get problems with the origin from a cad file even when it seems to be in the right place. I recently fixed a DWG that was causing clipping that the user was adamant that the origin was correct. I checked and in this case it had been imported with retain origin intact ticked, so when I looked for it the true origin of the dwg was 69,000 miles from the SU origin.

The times I have a problem were with files I created in SU. I do not import other files, they have a lol been my creations.
