An interesting feature in the automobile example is that mouse scroll zoom on this one is slower than the other examples. Maybe the scale of the model?
I have Firefox 33.1.1 at the moment for this post. As I verified, 34.x started to download.
There is also a black screen and a timer before the plus icon. I then have to click in the field to see the object.

RE: How do I move objects and scenes to origin?
Hello:
I only read a little bit of this thread, but it seems to talk about your issue.
See if it will help with your model scenes.

RE: Adding text
Basically, you are correct on the 3d text. Actually, it is created as a component. The only editing you can do is modify the geometry within.
There is a plugin by Thomthom called "Editable 3D Text." When/if you are ready for plugins, you might look into it.
The other text is 2d text and its positioning is dependent on the view or camera position at which it is created. If you zoom or orbit, the text loses its context. So, in order for it to be effective you should save the view as a named Scene.

RE: 2014pro (sometimes) behaving badly
To contact Trimble with technical issues:
http://help.sketchup.com/en/contacton that page are several options, including direct contact for pro licensed products.
That url can also be accessed while in the program by Sketchup Menu> Help> Contact us.
I had a minor issue and contacted them through this method. They were reasonably prompt and responsive with a solution.

This one and the VPaint concept are really cool. I have to come back and look at this later. Thanks for posting.

RE: ActiveX and Sketchup
As far as I know, Sketchup has no relation to Active X, and has never had any relation to it, since the display language used is OpenGL for the program.
There may be something else going on there. Probably can't hurt to check your graphics card website for updates.EDIT EDIT EDIT: My apologies. I must have been half asleep. Active X is a Windows operating system feature. I was thinking Direct X.
Please disregard this whole reply. -

RE: Lines showing up through components/planes
If I was experiencing this, I would check OpenGL/Display settings, check layers for visibility, check for hidden and redundant entities in the image source file.
It is very possible that none of these will solve it.Can you submit the file for some experienced members to analyze?

RE: Lines showing up through components/planes
Now seeing this, my response in your other post may not be where the problem is. Or, your tree images opacity/transparency settings need adjusting?
-
RE: Plane/Hidden line behavior
Hi.
One possibility is that particular tree image has not been properly processed to remove areas outside of the leaves. One would edit an image like this in an image processor such as photoshop or gimp to delete out backgrounds and trim tightly to the leaves and branches.
Others may wish to add their comments to this thread, who are more familiar with the effect. -
RE: Make faces from .dwg
Hi:
An .rb is the filename extension for a Ruby script. Ruby is a high level scripting language used for Sketchup to automate repetitive, or multiple operations to achieve a modeling purpose.
How to install on a Mac can be found here for a start:
