What attached instructions?
You have an smustard link and your personal website link.
No instructions for inserting "viewtopic..." or urls.
My enlightenment will probably go in the Duh forum.

RE: Lost script: help needed
Would that have been "BoolTools"? Commercial plugin $10 smustard.com
See Must Have plugins here in this forum.
I still don't know how to attach or insert a link. -
RE: Complex Multi-Dimensional Fan Blade
thanx Ecuadorian
At the time of my reply, I wasn't sure how to insert the link, not having done much attaching, uploading, etc. -
RE: Complex Multi-Dimensional Fan Blade
See the thread/topic on "shaping a cylinder", and related posts. See if these techniques help.
There was also a youtube clip/link called Turbo Sketchup specifically on making a turbofan jet engine. -
RE: Faces generated without defined edges
And, if I still had the offending graphics I'd try to upload it. But, thanks. There may be other replies.

RE: Faces generated without defined edges
Gaieus:
This condition doesn't involve layers, components or groups, as generally I work on Layer 0 before assigning anything to layers or grouping. And, usually I try to edit the problem at the point of creating it. Usually involves making pushpull or follow me do something near their limits. I refuse to believe that sketchup is only for simple geometry. -
Faces generated without defined edges
Maybe some of you have seen this after a complex modification using standard tools or plugins. Occasionally, I get secondary faces with no defined edges. I mean I can see where an edge ought to be, but the program does not draw an edge for the face. It is usually not needed and can be highlighted and deleted, but is this just the OpenGL struggling to display, or is it some other part of the program?
I have also seen dotted edges that turn out to be overlapping double faces. -
RE: 3D warehouse chating?
quoting Gaieus: "I hope I was not too complicated with this last paragraph "
Well, it wasn't "legalese"

I know you're fast, but this is ridiculous!
mitcorbps doesn't look lo-poly to me.

RE: Google's involvement with SCF
To Thomthom:
Point well taken on Blender. Again, no defense here, but there is considerable documentation, support, wiki's and so forth for Blender. The appeal of Sketchup is its accessibility-ease of use.
Incidentally, I checked, and Blender uses OpenGL, yet it does not suffer from the clipping problems associated with zooming in too far, etc. It does have scale limitations.I really only got involved with Blender because I wanted to model a statue in a church renovation project I was doing, and thought that the learning curve would be tough at first--it was. The statue is not finished.
I am kind of caught in limbo with modeling. It has become an end in itself. I have yet to really progress to the rendering world. The quandary of rendering for me is all that dancing around in 3d space just to deliver one still view of an approximation of reality. -
RE: Google's involvement with SCF
Yes, Solo:
As I wrote this, I was thinking about your position regarding high poly as well as the OpenGl matter. I tend to agree on these.
With no defense intended for SU, perhaps these problems are so fundamental that it would take a rewrite of the program in such a way as to cause it to lose some other user friendliness.
Look at Blender. It is very versatile, yet, to do any operation requires a lot of protocol and searching for buttons etc. I wouldn't say that its representatives were as responsive as Sketchup's.
Frankly, it would be great if Sketchup could gain Blender's versatility, while Blender gained Sketchup's accessibility.to kwistenbiebel: regarding hints on future development, I suppose that they don't want to make implied promises with implied deadlines, only to disenchant their clientele.

Google's involvement with SCF
Even though there are many issues floating out there concerning Sketchup's strengths and perceived shortcomings, I have been impressed with the fact that Google's Sketchup Team often responds in this forum.
I do not perceive that same concern, or interaction with other "giants" such as Microsoft, Autodesk, Adobe to name a few.So, thank you, Google for your interest in communicating. This goes a long way in my view to promote an understanding between/ among your organization and those who utilize your tools.
mitcorbAs always, I hope this is the appropriate subforum for this comment.

RE: Some plugin changed my MOVE command
Thanks, Jim:
I will check this out.
EventRelay also appears to pop up the Ruby console when I start Sketchup 6. I usually just click it off, as I have not had time to really utilize the plugin.

RE: Hooray for privacy!
Interesting!
When I first viewed Coen's signature, I made an impromptu interpretation that he meant: don't give retribution just because someone makes an honest(blunt, maybe even rude)observation about you, or your work, that would hurt your ego.

Some plugin changed my MOVE command
Hello,
Recently, I have installed several plugins from this forum.
Among them is EventRelay, FollowMe and Keep, and Protrude.
At some point, my Move command has changed to a default M+(Copy) command. This isn't necessarily bad, but now I have to hit control to turn off the + if all I want to do is move.
I wonder if anyone else is seeing this.
mitcorbps As usual, moderator please move this post if it is misplaced.

RE: Door Knob
As I said, someone will reply soon!
Al, I left off something: after constructing the internal arc,you select the "fillet" and drive it using the follow me tool.
Remus knows that you will get a cleaner result by his method.
You may have to do some cleanup with the other methods.
I just assumed that you wanted to work with the model you had already developed.

RE: Door Knob
Hi, Al:
There is a plugin called "round edges by bezier" which you can search in the SCF. If you want to do it with native SU tools, there are two tutorials I believe at SUWiki showing how to construct an arc internal to the volume you wish to fillet. Give these a try.
I am sure others will respond to your inquiry soon.
Best wishes, mitcorb -
