Maybe some of you have seen this after a complex modification using standard tools or plugins. Occasionally, I get secondary faces with no defined edges. I mean I can see where an edge ought to be, but the program does not draw an edge for the face. It is usually not needed and can be highlighted and deleted, but is this just the OpenGL struggling to display, or is it some other part of the program?
I have also seen dotted edges that turn out to be overlapping double faces.

Well, I have definitely seen odd things (once a very odd one in a CAD import) but first of all I'd check if those edges are not on hidden layers or not hidden otherwise. As far as I remember, SU 6 reveals a hidden edge once you redraw it but SU 7 doesn't (I should check this statement though). Neither will reveal an edge on a hidden layer however.

          Gaieus:
This condition doesn't involve layers, components or groups, as generally I work on Layer 0 before assigning anything to layers or grouping. And, usually I try to edit the problem at the point of creating it. Usually involves making pushpull or follow me do something near their limits. I refuse to believe that sketchup is only for simple geometry.

Of course, SU is not only for simple geometry - without the file itself I was only trying to guess.

And, if I still had the offending graphics I'd try to upload it. But, thanks. There may be other replies.

If that happens again, turn on hidden geometry and the edges should show up...

Real life is just another website, albeit a rather boring one.

Not necessarily... Some times things can get messed up. I experienced this yesterday when I tried to make a plugin which converted all components and nested components to groups. A coding bug caused 'ghosted' geometry to appear. (Sang) without any lines and without any means of selecting it. When I tried to clear the scene by making a new model SU crashed on me.
So when using plugins or importing other formats, basically when stuff is being generated, there is a possibility things get really messed up.
