That is along the lines of what I am thinking. I created the DC with the pieces already rotated but I think I will try to create them at RotZ=0 and then let a formula determine the rotation. I will report back to the thread what I find.

I'm Skewed!
I am going to post this without going into great detail, but does anyone know how to prevent the skew in the attached file or in general for that matter. I am surprised I have never ran into the problem before this.

RE: DC confusion... help needed
I have ran into similar things. Do you know what the value of w should be when the error occurs? Does w=zero if TAN(A/2)=zero? If I remember right, even if there is a division by zero in a conditional statement... it still results in an error even if that "condition" value is not returned.
Could you do something like...
A= [whatever]
aPass= IF(A=0,1000,CURRENT("A"))
w= h/tan(aPass/2)Maybe not the ideal example, but I am thinking if the aPass condition is met where A=0, you could plug in some outlier value that could then later be flagged... like:
RealW= IF(w=[outlier value],0,current("w")
I am not a math whiz, but I do know how to make the "cents" sign and this is my 2¢

That is pretty good!

RE: Fun with sin and cos
Tbere is a security camera and a flipping coin on the 3dwh that use some pretty cool trig stuff. If you haven't seen that security camera, maybe it would be better not to and compare the Attributes. I have been really surprised how different people are accomplishing similar things with DCs.

RE: SU trying to be too smart
I've noticed that too. It is basically slightly less annoying than Clippy popping up and and proclaiming "It looks like you are trying to apply a Material..." Not sure on the PC, but the Material browser is not even collapsible like the Layers, Scenes, Outliner, etc. I could perhaps live with the focus of the Material browser being brought up if I could at least minimize it to a bar and move it off to the side so further grabbing of the Bucket is not as "in your face".

Try running the two executables (.exe) in C:\Program Files\Render Plus Systems\RpTreeMaker (or it s equivalent). TreeEditor.exe and RpTreeMaker.exe. (If they don't run then we have a long way to go to get this to work.
If Win32API is the only problem, we may be able to work around it.
That worked for both my XP VM and Vista BC install. The RpTreeMaker app seemed to run as expected. Must have something to do with running on the Mac hardware?

RE: Fractal Tree Maker for SketchUp - Free add-on
Ok, tried that. I had to do each line separately, would've that made a difference? Attached is a screen shot of the results.
Yup on running a Mac. I have XP running as a VM and Vista that I occasionally boot into natively. Think that might be causing the issues? Its a unibody MBP.

RE: SU7 Schizophrenic Material Picker

That is what I do. I sample a projected or positioned texture, then start to paint my other geometry which I want to apply it to. But some times it simply forgets the UV mapping, like if I'd just picked the colour from the material window. Which I haven't.
That is weird. Are you sampling from a geometry and applying to a geometry, or from geometry to component or any of the other two possibilities?
To sample a projected texture from a face and "successfully" apply it and have it project on a component the geometries in that component need to have previously had a projected texture applied directly to them (and then that texture removed from the browser). Its weird. There is a self-paced-tutorial on the 3dwh called "projecting textures in DCs". That might not have anything to do with the issue, but since we are chatting about textures and projecting I thought I would toss it out since I don't really have any other ideas.

RE: Fractal Tree Maker for SketchUp - Free add-on
I must be missing some important step... I had the exact same issue on my Bootcamp Vista partition, which for all practical purposes is a different os its own partitioned HD space.
If someone were to send me the necessary files, could I just move them into place manually?

Is SketchUp installed on your machine in: C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7
-
Did SketchUp put RpTreeMaker_loader.rb into C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\plugins or did you copy it there by hand?
-
Uninstall RpTreeMaker, and reinstall it being careful to select the proper location for SketchUp.
-
After reinstalling it verify that RpTreeMaker_loader.rb and Win32API.so are located in the SketchUp plugins folder.
Hi Al, tried all those with no luck. For 2, I did not do any manual copying. My SketchUp Pro install is about as clean as it can get BUT I am running it on XP SP3 with Parallels ver. 4 (as a non-bootcamp VM). I have Vista installed via Bootcamp, I will give that a shot.
I will attach the files that got installed in my plugins folder. They are either encrypted, corrupt, or both (maybe?). Should a separate treeeditor.exe file be installed somewhere, I am not seeing that.

RE: SU7 Schizophrenic Material Picker
I might be not understanding the issue, but isn't "projecting/positioned" a property that is geometry-stored and not material picker stored? In my experience if I want a projected texture I need to either sample a projected texture from a face (projecting the right direction of course) and then apply it on the desired geometries.

RE: Fractal Tree Maker for SketchUp - Free add-on
Anyone else getting the error...
Error Loading File RpTreeMaker_loader.rb 126; The specified module could not be found. - C;/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/Win32API.so
after installing the tree maker with the "Click here to install RpTreeMaker 2_HK24tm.exe" file and starting up SketchUp?
Any thoughts?

RE: Help from Mac users: trouble with tool bars
Did you use the File -> Save As Template... feature? I think that just applies to what you see in your model space (styles, units, initial camera position, etc...) and not toolbar locations. Sorry, I don't know how you would save those.

RE: DC - 6² isn't written 6^2?
That is strange that ^ doesn't work. I believe this will accomplish the same thing:
EXP(a*LN(b))
Where b is being taken to the power of a.
Instead of =4^3, you can use =EXP(3*LN(4))
...it might only work for positive numbers.

RE: DC Exploration 1 - Color!
Take a look at the Google security camera http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=fe669947912103aede650492e45fb14f&prevstart=0. It "blinks" which is just a color change based off some formula stuff. Something similar could make the numbers count down. I bet with some creative "animatecustom" work, it could even count down accurately.

And he is back, like clockwork. What is the point of submitting a policy violation link if this juvenile has absolutely nothing better to do than to come back?

Thankfully Google was on top of things and removed the comments, but for what it is worth here is a screen capture. I am sure the commenter will be back, his/her comments have been removed before.

It is pretty self explanatory, but those wonderful comments are apparently in "response" to some constructive criticism on the commentator's models. It is obviously from the -=SAME=- character.
