@rspierenburg said: Wow. That looks like quite a bit of work...can't wait to see it all finished. After looking at the animation I wouldn't doubt if it was done with Sketchup in the first place. Rob Could be, i think sketchup is perfectly for things like this, could take some shortcuts, like when it says 32x piece A, i could make piece A just 32x longer, but hey whats the fun in that hehe. We dont have components for no reason. ^^ And it looks way cooler in some exploded view if its done like in the blueprints with all the pieces imo.

Hi KiraNL, Mirror... or Make the HALF-Item you want to Mirror as a Component, and then make a copy of it. Scale the COPY of the Component by -1 in the opposite direction, hide centerplane (lines & face) then, put the 2 pieces together. I almost always use a reference (center) point, or draw a reference line to match up the items if they are other than square. -Andrew Telker http://twitter.com/AndrewTelker

As for texture mapping, the only tools SU provides are the "Position texture" and "Project texture". See details here. Note that you cannot position a texture on groups/components (unless you enter their entity by editing them) and on curved surfaces (unless you turn on hidden geometry) but only on single faces (facets in case of curved surfaces).

In this thread you'll find a list of renderers. Some are standalone (and can render scenes from different apps) like Kerkythea for instance (and it's also free) some have a built in GUI in SU - like Podium or iRender afaik.

What you need to do is switch the background from SKY to Acolor and choose the colour that you want it to appear.
