OK, I am lost. I have some components that I wish to set up to scale and to add other attributes. I insert the component into a blank drawing, added all the component attributes that I want. Test the component and the component with the attributes work just fine. So now, here is where I am lost. How do I get the component back to the component library with all the attributes still working.
The information on the web site is a little unclear on how to save a component with attributes, or I am just overlooking the info.

      Question.

      1. How do I modify component that I all ready have that has no attributes, with the new attributes I wish to add?
      2. How do I modify a component that that I manage to save and it has some attributes, but I want to increase the attributes?

I cannot find the magic button that is consistent with saving or modifying components with attributes. I have saved some component with attributes; however, the process does not seem to be consistent.
Thanks in advance for your help

P.S. This part of the SketchUp 7 is going to be a killer application in IMHO.

    • RE: SU 7, yay or nay?

Well I have upgraded to Sketchup Version 7. I have found that modeling seem a little smoother, nothing I can put my finger on.

On the other hand, I paid hundreds of dollars to have the pro version. Version 7 gives me, a pro owner no improvement over the users of the free version. So why did I have to pay an extra $95 for the upgrade and nothing in pro version was upgraded that wasn’t upgraded in the free version.

Now I know that we have layout2, however, it seems to me I paid $495 for Sketchup 4, another $95 for version 5 a free upgrade to version 6 and a beta of Layout. And I never received the first version of Layout that worked. Now that means I paid $95 for a beta version and another $95 for a workable version of layout.

      Just frustrated and annoyed.

Oh well, I least I am earning a living with Sketchup and that is a plus for me.

      Ehaflett and Susan

Thanks for the very quick reply. I now have what I want, the watermark on each scene. Now, I wonder why that was not in the help files.

      Anyway, thanks again

    • Watermarks

I installed a watermark in one scene. I can obit, zoom, and move around the model. However, if I change scenes and return to the original watermarks scene, the watermark is gone.
So am I missing something? On the other hand, do you have to re-install the watermark each time you leave and return to a scene?

Thanks in advance for you help

    • What I didn’t know

Yesterday, while reading “Google SketchuUp for Dummies”, I discovered that not only can you make a group from a section slice, which I knew, but you can also export a section slice as a DWG file as true section.

Now I didn’t know that, and it will save me tons of work in making DWG files out of all the faces I generate.

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this particular operation. So what are the other little known operations that you use that may be of some help to others.

      Thanks

    • RE: [Plugin] SCF TOOLBARS

      CadFather

I have all the scripts. I just wanted to move the scripts out from the plugin folders so they wouldn’t load when I start Sketchup. This way my plugin menu will be much smaller. Right now my plugin menu goes off the bottom of the screen. So all I was hoping to do is have the scripts where the plugin menu does not read and load the scripts during start up. And still have the toolbar access the scripts.

Thanks for all the work. Don't want to seem like someone who does not appreciate all your work.

      Again thanks

      Thanks guys! 😄

Ken - actually most of the scripts are already inside the main scf toolbars files
      (there's a lot of them).

if you haven't done so already, you can try by backing up the plugins folder, deleting the contents and pasting only the SCFT.

then you can just bring back your favourite scripts from the back up..

I use this program, which will convert PDF to DFX if the PDF was made by printing and not scanning. Some cost, but not much compared to the time saved.

    • RE: [Plugin] SCF TOOLBARS

WOW, all these toolbars. Thanks a million. Just a question. Would it be possible that scripts that are used in a toolbar, be move to a separate directory, so one could remove the scripts from the plugins directory, making the pluging menu smaller.

Or have I missed something and they can be moved to another directory.

      Again, thank for your toolbars.

Charlotte-based Bank of America will receive 25 billons from the Federal government and the CEO, Ken Lewis predicts that the bank will pay the feds back in 3-5 years.

Now to me it seems that we (the public) are paying this twice. Once in taxes and again in fees that will turn into profit.

      Don’t seem right.

I had fast fingers for the "r" in fees. Can't hear, now can't read, what's next?

Thank you. I am not even sure what all I was looking for and what all I would need.

What I wanted to do is to be able to bring back into sketchup the exported SVG files, so I could re-export the drawing into DWG files, without have to go through Visio.

    • SVG file Import (importing)

      Script question.
I have been using Simon Beard’s, FlightofIdeas.RB to make SVG files out of SketchUp’s faces. This script works well in to turning faces into SVG files. I then use MS Visio to open the SVG files, and export to a DWG file. I do this to make ACAD drawing from my work.

I know that Sketchup can export to ACAD, but if the faces are not absolutely parallel to a plane, they will have the wrong dimensions. The FlightofIdeas.rb allows me to export the multiple faces without aligning all the faces to the same plane.
However, I found this script, SVG.rb that should import SVG files into SketchUp. However, I get the following attached error code.
I have looked for the missing files, however, I have been unable to locate this script.
      Any help would be appreciated.
      Thanks in advance
      Ken

As a work-around, you can create a rectangle anywhere - it does not need to be attached to your unfold geometry - and select it as the last unfold plane.

Yep, that what I do now and it does the job well and quite happy with the results.

OK, I tried the program Waybe. It doesn't do what I need, so now I want to get rid of the program. I have removed the script file and the zip file. However, I still get this message.

      Any suggestions.

      Thanks in advance

      Ken

OOPS! Never mind, found the directory. W Tools.

However, still looking for a good unfold program. Jim works great, just would like to be able to pick the plane to unfold to.

      Thanks again
