    • HIDING AND UNHIDING WITH SCENES QUESTION

      Hi,

Could some one help me figure out why, in using scenes to display different components and hiding others, that sometimes it works wonderfully, and sometimes it doesn't. When I create a different scene and hide something, it doesn't remember it, then that scene only moves to location without hiding or unhiding anything. I know how to use the update scene function with this, so that doesn't seem the issue. It seems to be a setting that I don't know about. I hope this is clear. Much thanks for your time and help, Keea

      HI,

I am trying to get this to install on my new computer and it isn't coming up for me. I have dropped both rb file as well as the tools file into the plugins folder, open sketchup and am not finding it. Is there a companion plug in needed for this, or am I missing something else. thanks so much for the help..Keea

    • Mighty mouse and sketch up question

      Hi,

I just moved onto a Mac and am trying out the Mighty Mouse, and unfortunately I can't get it to perform like the 3-scroll wheel I'm used to on my PC. When I push the center button it orbits, but when I roll over to the left click to push both the center button and the left to get the hand-move tool It doesn't respond. Is that function impossible with the Mighty Mouse or is there a way to reset the mouse buttons? Much thanks, Keea

      HI Thom,

Thanks, that bit of advice makes sense. That helps a lot..thanks for your time here...I was doing the hiding and unhiding within some of my scenes, but never considered hiding other models...thanks and blessings,

    • RE: When I zoom in, model gets cut off

      Hi,

I didn't realize you can't have this kind of distance in sketch up. The reason I do it this way, is so that my scenes don't show the other models, so when I send to LO, the background is clear. Do I really need my models so close together at the axis point? Are there any other solutions? The model that was clipping was the one that was not too far from the axis. Anyway, I appreciate the feedback and the learning curve. thanks, Keea

ps how do you all send your scenes to LO without having to spread the models out too far?

    • RE: When I zoom in, model gets cut off

      HI,

I can't detect any stray lines. I do have a section plane hanging out in space above the models. Very strange. I'll attach my model and would you mind looking at it. The FOV is 35 so that isn't the problem. Now I notice when I'm doing my lay out and changing my perspective of the model there, the camera clipping is extreme there and I can't get a close up shot. I did import some 2D trees. thanks for your time,

      Hi,

You've identified the problem, but the things that were suggested didn't stop the camera clipping. Strange that I have two copies of the same model in my sketch up, one works fine, I can zoom in, and the other is clipping. Any other thoughts on this problem? thanks,

ps I'm moving to a mac next week from my PC, so hopefully this may solve the problem, but not sure...

    • When I zoom in, model gets cut off

      Hi,

Can someone help me figure out why sometimes, and seemeingly without cause, I become unable to get close to my model to work the details. When I zoom in, the model gets cut off, as if I'm opening up a wall, but in perspective I'm actually 8' or so away from my model. Now, it's very difficult to draw any detail. Anyone have any experience with this...much thanks, Keea

      Thanks!

The Auto-render box, when selected, did the trick. I didn't catch that one, and still unclear about the difference between checked and unchecked, but that solved the problem..thanks for your time..I really appreciate that....thanks too Matteo....

    • SKetch up model freezes with any modifaction!

      Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me. Within the last couple of days, my LO won't allow me to alter my sketch up model in any way, such as resize, scale, change scenes, etc. Anything I do the yellow rendering triangle appears and that's it; it won't perform the function. My work has come to a hault with lay out. Any suggestions. I will attach one example of the lay out and title it "The Bug". I have tried this rendering on several other LO files and they all have stopped being able to render...Could someone help me on this? thanks so much, Keea

      Hi,

I just experienced the same problem. "There was a problem exporting to the file" keeps popping up and won't allow me to export to PDF. Never happened before. The only thing I did differently that I haven't tried before in the layout drawing is I copy and pasted text from Word onto one of my pages. I also tried the above suggestions to no avail. I'll attach my drawing if someone is willing to help me figure this out. Much thanks,

    • Is my computer good enough?

      Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me figure out if my computer is up to speed for what I'm doing with SketchUp Pro/LayOut. I'm finding that rendering my models into LayOut, takes about 3-5 minutes for 1 SU insert. Recently, I traced a Google Earth Map and brought the lines into LayOut over about 160 acres. Just for the SketchUp model to appear in LayOut took about 5 minutes. The SketchUp model size is about 3000 KB and the LayOut is now 1900 KB. I have a Dell Intel(R)Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.8Ghz 1 GB RAM.
I have done smaller models with Layout and worked well in rendering time, but not sure why this is struggling along so much?
Can anyone give me their opinion on if I need a larger memory or graphics card, etc.? thanks so much, Keea

      Yes,

It seems like the topic is up...thanks for those electrical symbols. If you have access to pre-drawn layout symbols for utilities like toilets, sinks, showers, and general plumbing symbols, and then landscape aggregate that would be really helpful.
Also, I'm having trouble deleting symbols for the scrapbook. Am I missing something here..thanks, Keea

    • Are shared Scrapbook symbols available?

      Hi Everyone,

As I'm still learning Lay-out, I am wondering if there is a way to add more pre-drawn architectural symbols and the like to my Scrapbook with out having to draw each one. Similar to 3-D Warehouse in Sketch-Up, maybe a 2-D Warehouse..thanks, Keea

    • RE: DImension Tool in Layout Appears Unreliable

Hi, thanks Barry for the insight...I guess one question that got unanswered in this discussion is: can I set the line tool, or other drawing tools, to draw in feet and inches in proportion to the scale I've selected, rather than always drawing in paper space. This is without using a sketchup model, just 2d drawing in Lay-out. thanks, Keea
