Does anyone know what causes a SU file in LO to become 'missing' or 'old' within the references menu?  I am having files become missing or old, even within days of working on them, saving them, etc.  It is having a ripple effect where, when I relink, it brings up the last saved view, and then throws off my whole page lay out.  Any insight would be appreciated..thanks,

For some reason LO has begun to do this recently.  When I come from SU and have edited or modified my drawing there, then saved, when I go to my LO drawing to update, the update changes all of my views to the last saved scene in SU, so I find I have to go reset each drawing again.  It doesn't do this all the time, but a good percentage now.  Did I select some preference by accident that would control this function..much thanks,

Has anyone ever had the dimension tool simply not sense the SU model, and won't lock into the vertex.  So I have to guess the exact vertex and then drag to the next.  This is not working out so well.  I tried to move my model to the front, making sure nothing is covering the layer.  I haven't had this issue before as I recall.  Unfortunately at a standstill with this drawing.  I'm sure it is something simple I'm missing...thanks,

I just had an updated version of SU notice appear on my screen and directed me to a download page. I did this, but before I install, will I have to set up all my settings, templates, plugins, etc, if I install the 'updated' version? Also, is there more info on what is updated in SU? much thanks,

Would any one know if it is possible to create textures in LO? I am thinking that textures such as gravel, sand, wood, and dirt symbols as traditionally used in CD's could be incorporated in LO using the fill tool as you would select color as a 'fill', but make an option for materials in this same dialog box. Maybe this could be something for the future, but can anyone do this presently? much thanks,

I'm trying to figure out why occasionally when I'm using the solid tools, some of my models get snagged on this: One or more of the selected objects is either not a solid or is locked. The non-solid/locked objects will be de-selected before this operation is performed. I know my models aren't locked, so they must be not a solid. Can someone help me figure out how to remedy this? What do I need to do to the model to make it considered 'solid'? much thanks ,

I am doing a project where I am going to make a ferro cement canopy that will tie three small building together. It will be a rebar mat that undulates and curves, and I want to ask you all what your favorite way to do shaping like this in sketchp. I have used 'from contours' before, also have the 'subdivide and smooth' plug in. Is there some thing out there that would make a 4" thick rectangle moldable into a wavy shape, even aside from these two tools? Would appreciate any insight..thanks, Keea

This problem has cropped up again. Does anyone know a maximum distance your model can be from the sketch up work space before this clipping begins. It seems once it starts, you cannot go backward, but have to copy all of you drawings to a brand new sketchup template, redo scenes, layers, etc. Giant pain. If there were a way to 'clear' the clipping, that would be great. thanks,

I have been making monolithic dome designs, and since the new sketchup 8 came out with the new 'solid tools', they would do easily what I've been doing with 'intersect model' to create windows and doors on a round surface, by insetting the shape into the dome. Same concept as with these solid tools, but for some reason it is not allowing me to do this function. When I try, a pop up window says: One or more of the selected objects is either not a solid or is locked. The non-solid/locked objects will be de-selected before this operation is performed.
Here is how I've been making my domes, and maybe there is a better way to make them so that they become a 'solid' or 'unlocked' object: I draw a circle, make my vertical center line, draw a temporary rectangle from this center line, so I can then draw my arc on this flat surface. I erase the unneeded part of this rectangle. I now have a solid face from the arc to the center, and then I simply use the 'follow me' tool by selecting the circles perimeter line...and 'poof' there is the dome. I can't just make a half sphere, or I would use the 'dome' plug in, I need to make custom dome shapes. I would really like to use these new SU 8 tools, but it is not allowing me to. Does anyone know a better way to make custom shape domes that would respond the the solid tools? OR maybe another setting I'm missing..thanks, Keea

I seem to be having a snag in trying to install some new styles from the SketchUp Artist website. I bring the .zip file in, change to .style, put in Sketch up 'style' folder, and when I open sketch up there is a blank in the styles window where that style should go. Sketch up recognizes that something is there, but can't activate the style. When I try to open it in style builder, it won't open, and I get this: File 'old-paper.style' is not a sketchy-edge style. Style Builder can not open this file.

Does anyone have an idea what I could be doing wrong here. It is the same for all the styles I've tried from this site. I'm on Mac OSX and would like to encorporate some of these styles in my work..thanks, Keea

Your tip to actually move layers physically in relation to each other in the dialog box did the trick. I just move the SU model layer below the notes layer there. I'm sure this was an obvious one to most..thanks again

I can't seem to attach my LO file..hmm..I tried what you said, and to no avail. References are currant, and locked or unlocked layer is behaving the same. It's like the sketch up model has taken over! I can't bring it to the back in ARRANGE. It won't behave. Have you any experience with this? I just moved onto a new computer, and maybe there is a setting within LO that is causing this. I really appreciate any insight you have, as it is stopping my work at this point..much thanks,

I want to attach my SU model and LO file so you can see what it is doing. Very strange. When I go in LO to put a label on the area where the roof framing is, or even the cover page which is the 3d model view, I can't put a label on that either. It's like the label is on a layer behind the model. Could someone help me on this little problem, I would be very grateful thanks, Keea

I've never experienced this before but for some reason my SU model embedded in LO will not 'update reference'. It appears as a 'greyed' text unable to select in the context menu. Has anyone had any experience with this frozen model syndrome. I've tried to re-link my model, but the model is current. Any possible solutions would be grateful..thanks,
