Just played around with it a few minutes and have to say I like it a lot so far. Kind of like an SU version of ZBrush. Good find.

RE: Mac v Win
Just a question. If a Mac user buys a Prius, will the overdose of smug kill him?

RE: Amazing inaugural surveillance
Can't believe security let that guy in wearing a mask.

RE: Bonzai 3D First Impressions
My first impression on seeing the $500 price confirmed is that Bonzai won't be on my computer for much longer.

RE: Office space...
In the second image there needs to be some people and furniture inside the building.
I also don't think the realistic trees fit with the scene.
Other than that, good work.

RE: Need a creative solution for reversed text
Don't mirror the object with the text.
Create your object, mirror it. Then add the text. Copy the text to the mirrored object.

Dear James,
Can you be a bit more specific about where the icons are? I'm not too sure what you mean by 'at the bottom of the preferences'.
Regards,
BobTools > Fredo6 Collection > Freescale > Default Paparameters
Scroll down to Icons visible in the toolbar, click on the two that are unchecked.

RE: Bonzai 3D First Impressions
Drew a box. Drew a rectangle on the box and "intruded" it. Drew a circle on the box and extruded that. Clicked on Derive > Revolve and it crashed. Probably 1 minute until the first crash!

RE: Bonzai 3D First Impressions
35 minutes to download 75mb. Not much on the Bonzai3d website to read while waiting. All google's fault I suppose.

RE: How to save drawing to be viewed only?
Just make the drawing 600x400 so that it isn't worth saving by anybody.
I'd say it's pretty much impossible to make a drawing so that people can't copy it. Even if you go to the lengths of making it save disabled, anyone with a tiny knowledge of computers could just save a screenshot of it and get it that way.
IMO if a drawing is so precious to you that you don't want anyone else to have it, you don't share it.

Partly due to the outrage expressed in this thread, I've decided to dis-allow posting of other people's scripts. A script author needs to be able to control which version of the script is available, and where it is posted.
There's a huge difference between someone helping another member out by posting an earlier version that worked for them and someone who's collecting other people's rubies and charging money for them.
Chris said, on this page: yeah I know this version right now has bugs. I made the mistake of updating it thinking I had all the bugs worked out. Then I found some problems and realized I did not have a backup copy of the older version - oops!

Does changing the field of view can help me here? Is there a ruby for that? I really have no idea how to do it.
You don't need a ruby to change the field of view. Just click on Camera, then Field of View. An input box will appear at the bottom right of the window. Just type in the new field of view.

RE: Marian's W.I.P.s
This forum has a very clear and strong attitude against piracy. Because of the profession of many of its members, people who rely on getting paid for the work they do, work which could pretty easily be ripped off, the stance is a massive no to software piracy.
On top of that, the software in question was written by one of the most prominent, liked and respected members of the forum.
Simply blurting out that you've got a stolen copy of subdivide and smooth on this website is stupid, stupid, stupid. It's like casually telling your in-laws that you're having an affair. It's like telling your boss that you've spent the last 6 months stealing things from work.
What Marian did was stupid. If he doesn't like his actions being called stupid, he shouldn't do stupid things.

RE: Arguing on the Internet
Personally I find arguing on the internet pretty good fun.
It helps though that I'm nearly always in the right though. I didn't particularly like the one time that I was wrong though. And the other time when I thought I was wrong and accepted I was wrong but turned out to be right all along.
Sketchucation is probably too polite for its own good. But it is nice that it is such a positive place.

RE: What is ruby and how does it work in sketchup 7 ?
I think there might be some rubies which need the Pro version, but there won't be many. I'll put it this way, I use SU7 Free and I have never come across a ruby that interests me that doesn't work with the free version.

I had no commercial intention however, especially for a plugin that actually should be part of SU in standard.

RE: Whaat's greatest hits
One possible way for Whaat to create a demo version is to make it a time limited example in the manner of the Soapskin + Bubble plugin.

RE: Changing the Size/Scale of the Model
In terms of scaling a model, grouping it also makes it easier to select everything and move it around. If it's a group then you can just click on it once and it is selected, it will scale, move rotate etc easily. If it's not a group and you select everything by triple-clicking it, or by dragging the mouse cursor and selecting all the lines and faces that can be very taxing on the computer if it's a complex model. You can also get problems if for some reason you don't manage to include all of the model when you're trying to select it.
I don't actually use groups that much. For me a lot of the time it's too much hassle to keep opening them up to work on them. But for things like moving parts of the model around and scaling large models groups are very handy indeed.

RE: [Obsolete] FredoScale 1.0e (Free Scaling, Taper Scaling)
Solo is going to find his cartoon characters a great deal easier with this. This is clearly another great leap for Sketchup.
