      It makes my blood boil to see all these criminally negligent banks receiving trillions of dollars to be kept secure whilst their actions have put millions of people at risk. They should have been allowed to go bust. Then they should have been nationalised. Then the trillions of dollars wasted on these parasites could have been put to good use. Helping millions of honest, tax paying people secure their futures working in real wealth creating jobs.

      Amazing how all other industries are told that if you aren't profitable you must be allowed to go to the wall, because that is how the "free" market works. But this "law" doesn't apply to the financial industries.
      Criminal!!

      Do you really think that the banks are being helped out for the sake of the banks? IMO the banks are being helped put because however bad the situation is now, if the governments hadn't bailed out the banks the situation would be a great deal worse right now.

      And then you'd have been whining about how the governments didn't do anything to try and stop this mess.

      Seeing the pictures you've every reason to say that the car shares a very similar shape with the 612 S'. I'd argue that neither care deserves to share the description of having "Ferrari good looks". IMO the 612 is one of the ugliest offerings by Ferrari since the dog's dinner of the the one-off P4/5

      Yes, such a thing exists.

      They offer a free version. I have no idea how capable that edition is though.

      Speaking of wild claims. Back that one up!

      @solo said:

      200kb medium? wow! that's low in my book, so what do you consider low and do you have any samples of medium and low components that look half decent?

      @hebrides said:

      Less than 100k. I'm not going to try and qualify my advise. You know yourself this is a perpetual problem and balancing act between pre-vis quality and model size. If you have the time to put together packs and you are interested in earning a living then I will leave it to you to create decent low poly models.

      @hebrides said:

      I have posted models that demonstrate the point made in the post.

      Where? Why wouldn't you post a model in Solo's thread so that people can actually see what you're talking about, rather than trust that you can do it because you say you can?

      I understand your doubt but it is easy to be cynical.

      It's also easy to make grand claims and then refuse to offer anything to back those claims up.

      And that's what you do.

      Until your post in this thread there wasn't any negative comments towards Christopher. I don't think your sensitivity in this thread has anything to do with the response to Christopher, it's down to you being asked to back up your speed claims in the MoI thread. And you've been at it again over Solo's "weighty" organic modeling where you claim a superior result to Solo's but again refuse to actually back your claim up with the model.

      IMO the response to Christopher has been appropriate. He asked for a free version of SU Pro and he was told that there wasn't really any need for him to have the Pro version when he hasn't even installed the free version and seen what it offers. Until your post nobody brought up the troubling contradictions in his post. And until now, nobody has mentioned the fact that Christopher has managed to whine at length about the treatment of disabled people in both of his 2 posts.

      Very cool, well done Lewis.

      One question however, was that not built with SU?

      Lweis wrote this in the thread I linked to:

      *The current model is entirely SU without any Rubies other than that tube-along-path one...although previous iterations of the "project" have been hand-drawn, modeled/rendered in Blender, and most recently modeled/animated in Rhino.

      In order to make the last deadline, these particular images are of course SketchUp 2D output layered in Photoshop CS3 XT with a bit of GIMP for certain areas...I have a new copy of Piranesi which I'm planning on using for the interiors, but for some reason the Piranesi interface isn't "clicking" with me and to beat the clock I resorted to my old standbys.*

      It looks like the same model to me.

      Just saw Lewis's model on a 3DS Max 2010 promotional article and recognised it instantly.

      If you own one then you should just go out and take lots of photographs of it and use them.

      These aren't your model pickup, but maybe download them to pick up some pics as well:

      Well yes it is a bit of a job. I can understand your wanting to confirm this time. You will just have to take my word for it.

      What a pity that a SU genius like yourself cannot master a simple screen capture software. How lucky we are though that you can tell us how great you are.

      There are no contact buttons for me either.

      I've remembered now why there won't be contact details though. If you've posted a model to the 3DW then there is a box to tick if you are willing to accept messages from people. Obviously those people have opted not to receive messages. I guess the only option with those is to leave feedback for the model and hope that they read the message and get back to you.

      Are you signed in to your google account when you're browsing 3DW? You can tell at the top right hand corner of the page.

      On the bottom left of the 3DW screens there is a Contact button. Just click on that and you'll be able to send a message to the model creator.

      You could also click on Rate this model and give the model a rating and/or criticism, although that will obviously be public.

      Are you signed in with your account though? If you aren't signed in or don't have a google account you might not to see these links.
