Can anyone suggest a track from the youtube library of pre-approved tracks that would be suitable for an architectural fly-through with a length of about 3.30 minutes?
I think I'll be retired before I pick a good one that's reasonably in-offensive, up-lifting & not too dominating...
Thanks for any suggestions made..

RE: Orchid
Thanks for sharing, I'm sure it's last longer than any we've had in the house!

RE: [Plugin] Simple Plugin Installer
Thanks very much for the update. I found the original version worked very well.

RE: One model or two, or three or four
Richard,
I think I would keep things separated, at least for as long as possible. The files proposed would be my way to go.
You can always import one model into another if required, but try & keep the level of detail down to maintain your sanity...
Best of luck with using Layout. Some of the drawings shown here are fantastic quality, but I found it quite frustrating to use for anything more than sketches. -
RE: 3D Import into AutoCAD
It may not be compatible with vertical AEC versions of AutoCAD, some just work with the plain vanilla version.

RE: 3D Import into AutoCAD
The command is "IMPORTSKP" for local files & "GETMODEL" for 3Dwarehouse importing.
If you have the ribbon open, a couple of icons should be showing in a Sketchup Import panel of the plugins tab. -

Hey, that looks pretty good there Al! Is it only for autocad, or is it also for the other autodesk apps like 3dsmax?
3D Max already has a SKUP importer built into the product. It also handles surfaces with double sided materials. Don't ask me anything else about MAX though, it's one of the most complex apps I've opened, tinkered with, then closed...

RE: Loading PNG Textures in Ruby plugin and SketchUp freezes
I've had problems when exporting PNG files from Corel Photo-Paint & importing them into SKUP. I found that I had to re-save the image files in IrfanView before they would play ball.

RE: Huge Autocad symbols collection!
TIG,
Thanks for the tip. I had been searching for a ruby to do the job -
RE: Huge Autocad symbols collection!
Is there a ruby or other method to export all components from a model in one go?
I just seem to be able to export one component at a time.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide. -
RE: DWG won't import into Sketchup Pro V8
Try wblocking all the information required in modelspace to a older DWG format - or use the AECTOACAD command to convert any AutoCAD Architect or other "vertical" flavoured objects in the file.

RE: AutoCAD users! Can you......
Can you print to an image & then import into Layout as a background?
Otherwiswe, no, at least with truetype fonts - unless you can print to PDF - then open Illustrator, CorelDRAW etc. & change the fonts to objects.
If the fonts are SHX, you can convert them into lines, but it's a bit old hat these days.
Good luck! -
RE: Nvidea 560 ti
We have nvidia Quadro cards at work & have to admit little difference for SketchUP, but do seem more reliable for AutoCAD etc.
I have a GTX 560 ti at home, it's a little noiser that I hoped for, but better than the office FX1800 card. No problem with SketchUP.
