I find the AUGI forums tend to be better watched, but it depends upon what is asked & how much detail you can provide initially.

RE: Autocad floating toolbars, and lines flickering
Try switching off your hardware graphics acceleration, if it is on.
Then perhaps updating your graphics card &/or mouse driver may help. -
RE: [Plugin] Roof.rb
Thanks for the update, the original has been a solid tool, looking forward to trying the new version.

RE: Bing Map Birds Eye View Into SKUP?
Just a quick update.
PhotoSculpt doesn't like the 90 degree angle between views, but it did process a couple of them. Unfortunately, it took the cloud shadowing as the main difference in levels between the two views & has created a few hills in the flat site!
I haven't tried to import the exported OBJ model into SKUP - it's 187Mb & not practical to work with.Back to the drawing board...
I might try just importing the site plan into SKUP & setting one of the views as a background watermark. I might be able to align the plan with the view & work from there. -
RE: Bing Map Birds Eye View Into SKUP?
Focpt, Ledisnomad,
Thanks for your response & interest.
I tried with the SKUP photomatch tools, but they need an elevation (horizon) to work.
PhotoSculpt - It looks impressive. I just downloaded the trial & gave it a quick whirl, but it appears to need a bit more fettling to get the screen grabs to work. If it works, I'll come back to you. Thanks again.

Bing Map Birds Eye View Into SKUP?
Does anyone have a method of mixing the plan view & birds eye aerial views from the Bing mapping system to create 3D models? I know this is exactly what the Google Building Maker does with Google Maps, but it isn't available for our corner of Scotland.
I'm needing to create a model of the surrounding area of a building site. As the site is quite flat, I thought this method would be possible with photomatch, but I'm a bit lost on how to proceed.
Thanks to anyone who can help. -
RE: Free rendering software(s) for Sketchup
Kerkythea is a good package, with an excellent bunch of experts who are very helpful on the forum. For those who know how to use it will provide superb results & decent output for the rest of us!
If you want pay a little money, Twilight Render provides an easier front end to the Kerkythea engine, with a template based workflow.Never tried, but there is a plugin for the POV-RAY rendering package created by Didier Bur http://rld.crai.archi.fr/rld/plugin_su2pov.php. I see the POV-Ray package bundled with engineers lighting calculation software.

RE: Simple Casement Window
Revit is exactly the same. Almost glad to hear that ArchiCAD has the same problem. The funny thing is that AutoCAD is more straight forward in assigning "dynamic" qualities!
We've turned back to SketchUP, simply because we're quicker with it & can get the output we need. Rendering with Twilight & Kerkythea just adds the gloss when needed & can produce a similar quality as the Mental Ray engine supplied with Revit/AutoCAD (at least at my level of expertise ). -
RE: Simple Casement Window
Escape Artist, - good point,it just needs to look right at the presentation "scale".
ArCAD-UK - Could this be Revit? We've just gone through the same disappointing process & have give up subscription to it. Shame, as it works so well in some respects. We found it very hard on the PC's (we never thought it quick enough) & difficult to get simple families that we could use. -
RE: Simple Casement Window
Thanks for sharing, but it could do with a frame to hold the opening sashes & a sill nosing.
Still, you're at least sharing your work, which is more that I've done! -
RE: Al's Organics
Sorry to be a silly moo & go off topic, but can you tell me the name of the font used in your guide please?
Thanks -
RE: [Plugin] SectionCutFace
Thanks with continuing to develop this plugin -- it comes in very handy when needed.

RE: Best way to do IES lighting?
Have a look at the Kerkythea web site & search for the subject - it has links to sources. It's also a very good renderer, made even simplerer with the Twilight Renderer for SKUP.
Best of luck! -
RE: [Plugin] Camera Recorder (Pixero update)
Has anyone tried this with the rendering packages available?

RE: Kerky mat help please
I think you'd be better to post this topic in the http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/ website.
Have you already tried a test render to KT using KT2SKUP? It determines the path on the first run.
If you do have problems with KT, I can recommend stumping up for Twilight Render - it's very straight forward to use for SKUP users while retaining the power of Kerkythea.
Best of luck!
