      Hi EarthMover...
These are lovely! I think somewhere in between the two tonemapping is what you are probably going for...
but any client would be happy with either. πŸ˜‰

      help...
I'm working on a little pool shot myself right now... what can you tell me about your vegetation?

what can you tell me about your render size/times/#processors used for said render times.

      thx.

Fortunate enough to still have some medical work these days...

-thought I'd share my little practice render here... hope you like it.

-used a tiny bit of tonemapping + background image in post-pro... but the rest is pure KT output. πŸ˜„

-rendered with Kerkythea's Metropolis Light Transport over the weekend (1800px orig.)

-design by myself-and-team at Plunkett Raysich Architects, Milwaukee.

      great Dtrarch!

      here's a thought...
when posting render times, number of threads used is important... I have a quad at work, a single at home... not the same game at all...

You can model poop and blindly adjust your settings to Hellen keller values and end up with a great render, as long as you are willing to wait 9 months for it to render.

      that's a quote from Fillet.rb.
can't help you any more, ask in ruby forum.
but that's not necessarily the tool I'm thinking of, but in my Plugins pulldown I have a ruby that says "Fillet" and it has a flyout pulldown that says make "L", make "T", "round" ... unfortunately I do not see a way to tell what a ruby is called that is listed in the plugins pulldown because the name of the .rb and the word listed in the plugin pulldown does not necessary need to be the same word.

yes, it's called fillet.rb do a search - try Didier Bur's page (see ruby section of this forum to find him/it.

select 2 lines, then choose fillet from your plugins menu, it will ask you for radius.

    • GSU6free to GSU7free - A Thank You Note to Google

GSU6free to GSU7free- My Thank You Note to Google

Sorry this was so long in coming... been a surprisingly busy couple months. I meant to thank you sooner.

I have been building my list of thank yous πŸ˜„ ... so here it goes...

      😍
      1-
Intersecting lines break now. What a concept! β˜€ I've wished for this since the day I started learning SketchUp! Thank you! It's really a time-saver and I hate when I'm forced back to SU6 when I'm at work. Thank you thank you! Now SU obeys it's own rules more often (SU's rule #1=lines make faces). I predict I will be using 'intersect with...' context menu choice less often now... but feel bad for T.Burch as his intersect overlapping lines will be needed less.

      2-
plugins seem to work pretty well for me... just copied them all over, and no errors on open: CONGRATS! NOTHING'S BROKEN NOW! Really! I was very very afraid something bad was going to happen - and it didn't! I'm very happy! Few will have to go re-write their rubies because of the new release - this is good news for all ruby-geeks (like me) I think. 😍

      3-
it copied my GSU6 shortcuts over for me! wow! thanks! wonderful! It did not force SU's shortcuts - now I can share my profile w/the office for some office-common-shortcuts! πŸ‘

      4-
stacking all my toolbars at the top seems to be working better now than in SU6... but others seem to have probs... not sure why. Mine are working better for some reason - Thanks!

      5-
you can delete the new SU dude and save your template as default... very simple- thanks! (I knew how to create my own template before, but it's easier now)

      6-
Dynamic Components - changing parameters of components on the fly - very good! Thank you! This was visionary and useful! πŸ˜‰

      7-
Now in SUfree I can pick my global location w/out a ruby plugin - thank you!!! (cute little buttons on bottom left, btw) πŸ‘

      8-
was really hoping for better scene manager... still weak/frustrating there. 😞

      9-
exporting scenes still weak as well... still only a one-at-a-time deal... could be much improved. Rick's scene exporter for $20 has paid for itself many times over for me.

      10-
I noticed that when scaling by one of the corners now I can snap to adjacent geometry! woo hoo! great job! I used to be only able to snap to adjacent geometry when selecting the scale handle on the sides, but the corners would not inference like they do now. This will greatly speed progress for some operations - thank you!

      BUGS 😒
      1-
It appears the "MaterialObserver" bug mentioned hereis still an issue... but not as bad as with SU6.

      2-
but it appears there's a bug. Insert the delivery truck example. copy it beside itself 9 times. select all copies of the truck, change color to red. now it changes only one of the trucks to red. Then select one truck, make it blue. Now it makes all trucks red. Then select the 5th truck from the left and change it's color to something else- grey - now it changes the truck next to it.

      3-
I have had several crashes now... I can send an official-ish 'crash report and scene' if you'd like... if I can pin them down... I will try.

I respect your hard work on these! I am glad you are keeping busy. πŸ˜„

I can only say this with the love and passion of an architect:
but from an architect's viewpoint, these designs scare me to death.

all I can do is pray that this, this, this, and this never get built. It's like the worst absolutely devastating land-destroying developments of the United States got steroid injections... please tell me it isn't so... 😒

      Thanks, jzer7... πŸ‘

can you help give a little tut for us idiots? I'm specifically interested in using your tool to create a geometrically/mathematically accurate mirror lens for creating a work SketchUp/Kerkythea telescope.

so if you could show how to find an equation, and apply it to creating a lens for instance, that would help me much.

      thanks.

but - I hope you heal quickly, Pete! I'm laughing w/ you, not at you...

it is only by the grace of God I have not done the very same thing as you...
btw - my kids went down the hill w/out me last year and their sled was like some sort of tree-seeking missile and slammed them into it... luckily they were not killed... just bumps on the heads from tree branches...
they were done w/ sledding for th season after that. πŸ˜†
now they're begging to go again. πŸ˜„

    • RE: Film & Stage plugin

well, Scott, if you're taking requests,
I would like a 'physical camera' mode that at least lets me interactively in a sketch-up-like-manner chose the focal point so that all render engines could grab the data automatically thru their respective plugins. The other phys. cam. properties wouldn't be a bad idea. While these can't be 'seen' in SU, they would be utilized by other plugins I think.
(I've never used the film & stage plugin, so don't know if this is already in there.)
