      Hi florderis,
Have a look at balcony's material parameters. There sould be 'Alpha Contribution' under 'Material Options', make sure it's not 0. Check this official manual for material parameters.

I've found that Passmark charts are like "generalised" and I dont trust them 100% in a case of SketchUP.
It's the way of benchmarking really. Sometimes core numbers or clock speeds barely doesn't make sense, so comparison is a must. These kind of websites provide it quite reasonably.

Chaosgrous benchmark also are tough nut while they're tested on x20 core platforms and compared with 4x 1080ti setups.

First pages are like that but did you look to other pages? There you can see single 980Ti performances.

      CPU:
      clock speed>core number
core number - 2nd important but sill, it'll my only rendering workstation

Higher clock speed will be beneficial for SketchUp and higher core count will be beneficial for Vray rendering. Take a look at AMD Ryzen series.
Check the list, compare CPUs performances:

I found CUDA cores are responsible for RT rendering preformance so Iconsider few options:

      1050ti - cheapest/newest budget version
      980ti - aftermarket expensive oprion
Titan Z - oldest but has about 5k CUDA cores (so it should get me boost for RT and enough viewport smoothness)

Simply check those GPUs you found in benchmarks results:
      https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
      https://benchmark.chaosgroup.com

You might as well see more options in the list to consider buying.

I recently bought Ryzen 1700x with GTX 1070 (Also don't underestimate the importance of motherboard and compatibility of RAM).

I have been having major file problem especially if I have any 3D Vegetation in my files.

So, what's the problem exactly? SketchUp freezes when you open file? Can't navigate easily in viewport? CPU can improve that performance, not GPU.

      Questions:
Can these 2 card work together on my machine for V Ray 3.6? If they can work together will it make any differences to SketchUp?

I'm not sure but both card should work together for Vray. GPUs won't improve SketchUp performance, CPUs will (the higher the clock speed the better)

I've seen this author's utilities, both in RoundCorner and other toolsets that have regular SketchUp-like tools. Why don't I get them?

Where did you see such icons? Could you share some screenshots or links?

I liked the .gif creation feature that is seamlessly looping!
I'm not a fan of Tilt Brush & Blocks apps though, it's ridiculous. Maybe time will tell but not yet as a 3D creation tool really.

    • RE: How do I import visopt to Vray 3.4?

According to official Vray Docs.: Migrating from Previous Versions

      @unknownuser said:

Loading ‘.vropt’ or ‘.visopt’ files created in previous V-Ray versions is not recommended. Some outdated parameters may cause unexpected results. Using the new streamlined quality presets, and then fine-tuning the settings before saving them in a new ‘.vropt’ file is the recommended approach.

    • RE: Advance use of drape tool

I don't know about a plugin but i think you can just double click the face inside to select related geometry and Ctrl+Move upwards to make a copy, then make it group and move downwards. Then you can hide/unhide the group as you wish. (Also you can delete the geometry (edges created) on terrain mesh)
