I do all of my work in 2017 Pro, I have 2015 installed still, but this is for quick renderings, having to save down and open in an older version is not only a pain, but there's stuff in 2017 SketchUp that I'll lose by going to 2015

Any luck on this? I'd love to see this working again!

RE: Layer by height
All this code is a bit above my pay grade... If I get the gist it sounds like it is possible?

Layer by height
Hey all! I've got a challenge...
I mill a lot of stuff on CNC, typically plywood and other sheet goods. I design all of it in SketchUp.
What I do is draw the parts, and lay them flat in SketchUp and then bring them into my milling program that drives the CNC.
When you get the parts into the milling program they are 2D. Right now I have to manually select each vector and tell the machine what to do with that vector. Sometimes it's cutting out a shape, making a pocket, or cutting a hole.
The milling software I use can automatically make toolpaths based on vectors being on a layer, which leads me to my question:
Does anyone know of an automatic way to put faces and lines on named layers based on their Z height? The trick here is that the height needs to be related to the thickness of the piece of wood that's being cut.. That means if I'm cutting a .25" deep pocket out of a 1" piece of plywood that pocket's Z depth is .75". Now if I wanted to mill a .25" pocket out of a .75" thick piece of plywood that pocket's Z height is .5"
Does anyone know of a plugin out there, or some other method that I could achieve this? Here's a mockup:

Toolbar Icon sizes Mac
So far I've been having a great time with Animator. I've been having some issues with the icons on the toolbar. I actually have this issue with all of the Fredo plugins...
If I leave the standard settings, on my Retina screen the icons are so tiny that I have to zoom in to see and click on anything. If I change the setting to make them larger, they get jumbled like this:

Open Maker Bench Challenge
Hey all, I wanted to invite anyone in the SketchUp community to a SketchUp challenge that I have launched. The idea is to built a CNC made, fully open sourced Maker Bench. We want people in the community to "hack" our bench. We'll take the best ideas and actually make them real at Maker Faire. Check out the post for pictures and the models:

If you have any questions about the challenge, or submissions feel free to ask here or there.

RE: [Plugin] MoleculeImporter (1.3.3) – updated 8.10.2017
Ok, I just installed the one in the SketchuCation plugin store and it works on my files perfectly so there's something up with the one in the Extension Warehouse.

RE: [Plugin] MoleculeImporter (1.3.3) – updated 8.10.2017
It looks like I'm on the 1.1 release, I got it from the Extension Warehouse. Should I wait for an update there, or just load the one that you have for download here?

RE: [Plugin] MoleculeImporter (1.3.3) – updated 8.10.2017
I tried a bunch from ACD/ChemSketch and they all failed no matter what format I saved them in...

RE: [Plugin] MoleculeImporter (1.3.3) – updated 8.10.2017
I am seeing the same thing right now on SketchUp 2013 and 2014. I've tried to import several different MOL files.
Is there possibly a bug here?
I am trying to 3D print some molecules and would love to be able to use this...

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Not sure I totally understand the point of that post, but I can tell you that Matt is a totally legit guy who runs a fantastic site with really solid SketchUp help. He and I both got duped by Ram not realizing that he ran a spam operation. The difference is that Matt has a big headlining product that he pays affiliates for. Mine (my plugin) and affiliate program aren't 100% setup, so Ram really didn't promote me as much.
Matt has a mailing list, and ads on his site. They aren't spammy, and they are used to pay his bills so that he can create excellent SketchUp content.
After Matt realized what was going on, he stopped having dealings with them. Matt's book is great, worth the money, and his free information is top notch. I refer people there all the time.
Now that we have that out of the way, let's get back on track and stop the real spammers out there. To go http://www.sketchupurspace.com and read about them, and what you can do to stop it, or look at the first post in this thread.

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Alright guys, here's a great site that tracks all the theft that these guys have perpetrated. It also has resources to help you find out if you've been a victim, and report it.
I had to chuckle at the URL.

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Just do you guys are aware of how much they infringe, this is a snippet of an email I just sent to Rajib Dey, the man who seems to be the perpetrator of a lot of this infrnigement. This list is just what I found TODAY:
The message:
Remove my images from your Pinterest account:
http://www.pinterest.com/rajibdey/sketchup-3d-modeling/
My images, and name were used here without my permission, remove them as well.
Remove this one as well:
http://www.sketchup4architect.com/live-demonstration-on-kitchen-designing-with-sketchup.htm
And this one: (While you're in this one, remove the image you used on introducing Sketchup 2015, that's Matt Donley's. I'll let him know you stole it.
Here you are representing me as part of your organization, this is not true. Remove this as well:
You were supposed to have removed this article and you did not:
https://arka48.wordpress.com/tag/shaderlight-for-sketchup/
You can also remove my name from this article as well.
http://sketchup3dcomponent.blogspot.com/2011/01/sketchup-team-of-global-associates-just.html
This page as well:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/sketchup4archite/comments
And this one:

This is ridiculous. Consider your self lucky that I am only asking you to remove content and not seeking legal action.

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
I've got to agree with Rich on this one... They are allowed to make money on the internet. If they want to create their own content and then sell ads against that, they are totally in the right to do so. That's how this site operates after all. Look how great the value is here. I don't mind the ads at all, I even click on them from time to time because there is a great community here.
Stealing is a whole different ballgame...
Yes, us talking about it here generates more traffic, but educating people about them is important. If everyone silently sits around and lets them take content, they'll just keep doing it more and more. When I first decided to post this, I emailed a few people that I know that had content they created in their site. In almost every case those content creators (read: Real SketchUp users that created great content) were unaware that they had been a victim.
Now that we are all starting to make people aware we can collectively police them.
And besides, if we generate a few more hits for them, who's going to want to really go there anyway? The site is terrible. It's full of mis-information and spelling errors. There is little to no value in it anyway. If people find the site through us, they'll probably come back here for real help and content anyway.
-
RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
I don't care how many hits they get. If we don't speak about this publicly it will never get dealt with.
They are allowed to get all the hits they want, they shouldn't steal other people's content though. This is one of the best forums for getting the word out.

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Ok, they removed Matt's image, but now have one right off of the SketchUp home page. Hope they got permission.
Feel free to weigh in Sketchup Ur Space.

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Just so everyone knows, these guys just ripped off images from Matt Donley right from the main page of SketchUp.com.
If anyone needs help getting their stuff off of any of the sites they operate, I am willing to help.
-
RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Ranked or not, let's make sure that everyone that reads this understands how these guys operate, and checks their websites for stolen content.

RE: Sketchup ur Space & Sketchup 4 Architect stolen content
Great suggestions. I was luckily able to get them to honor my request to remove the content, but only after barraging them on just about every channel I could.
I suggest that if anyone finds stolen content to call them at 866 493 4944. I got them to answer once and it clearly forwards to a cell phone. The guy on the other end, who wouldn't identify himself (I was very polite) I can only assume was Rajib. On the phone he promised to remove the content, but then didn't follow through for about a week.
