Yes, downloading it through IE, or another browser with out importing it would have caused those issues. It is meant to be used from Sketchup's component browser, or just imported.

Its interesting that you are having that error, it works fine on my end... (On multiple computers)

If you wouldn't mind, could you walk me through how you got the error?

You said that you were trying to flip the door to get it to hinge the other way....

    • RE: Quick doors

Are you downloading it from the 3D warehouse within Sketchup?

If you download it from a normal web browser, you cannot just open DC's in Sketchup, you have to import them. If you don't do that, it won't open as a proper DC, and you will see that sort of behavior.

So either download it from your web browser, and then to fo "File" and "Import" in Sketchup, or, ideally, find it on the 3D warehouse within Sketchup, and bring it in from there. That way it will work properly, and you will be able to access all of its configuration options from the dialog box.

Yes, just scale it to a negative value, that way you can have the pull on the top, or change the hinging.

    • RE: Invitation to the SketchUcation collection

I just posted this model in another thread, but I think its appropriate here.... Its a dynamic, reconfigurable door. I use it all the time for my woodworking plans...

This is a bit off topic, but for all of you out there making a lot of doors for a design, you might be interested in this dynamic component I made for making doors...

    • RE: CNC Routing

I use my Sketchup models as well for my CNC machine. I use Cut2D, I just export my models from Sketchup to DXF, and import them to Cut2D, setup my toolpaths, then send it over to Mach 3, and I am making dust!

    • Dynamic Cabinet Door

This is a cabinet door that I created. I draw a lot of kitchens, and I really don't like drawing doors over and over again! I came up with this component, and I have been adding to it over the past few weeks....

Thought I'd share here, Perhaps some of you may find it useful! It has configurable panels, frames, glass, mullions, reveals, and can be butted to another door. It can also report the actual door size. My thought is that some of you wood workers could use this door, set in in your face frames, and get actual door sizes based on tolerances set in the "Reveal" setting.

Is funny that you mention that, because I just made a bunch of kitchen dynamic components and posted them to the 3d warehouse. I actually have a few tutorials waiting to be posted on them too. I will have those up sonetime next week.

In the meantime, search for "kitchen Dynamic components" on the 3d warehouse. ( if I wasn't on my phone I'd post the link here!)

    • Using Sketchup in Kitchen Design

Hey folks! I've been a long time reader, but not a very frequent poster.

I use Sketchup just about everyday for Kitchen Design. I am curious to see how many people out there use it as well for Kitchen Design.

There are plenty of tutorials out there already for Sketchup, so I decided to make a video tutorial blog that focuses on Kitchen Design.

I'd like some feedback, as this is a new project I am embarking on. Please check out my tutorials and let me know what you think!
