Well, in my opinion, I think this is going to be OK. I mean, Google aquired Sketchup to enhance it's geo products, and since this company is a geo company as well, I think this might be a good fit. Only time will tell. PS, if anyone's interested, I've got a blog post up, with a SketchUCation shoutout. With any luck there will be some comments from users other then this community. It might be interested to see what others have to say:

RE: Architecture in Components Browser
Thanks! I hope they get this worked out soon, I'm stuck modeling on my PC only!

RE: Architecture in Components Browser
I just sent off a blog post about it: http://ow.ly/8SuDm
Hopefully it gets some attention, on a PC it's not so bad to have to use a web browser, on the Mac it's a pain to have to download every model that you want onto your desktop!!

RE: Architecture in Components Browser
Ok, I am also having issues with some of "My collections" that are saved on my 3D warehouse account. When I pull them up in Sketchup, some them are listed, but no, or very few models show up when I select them. If I go in through the browser, they are all still there....

RE: Architecture in Components Browser
Ok, so it's not just me, that's what I suspected. Right now I have a browser window open and I am just dragging the components in that way... It's been this way for a week or so now...

Architecture in Components Browser
Is anyone else seeing 0 results for the Architecture component catalog in Sketchup? I am seeing it on two computers (in different locations)

RE: Anyone Using a 3D Mouse?
@Solo, I have the same one you have too, I love it. I have also started using Cad Control for my iPad, it lets you use multitouch for the orbiting, panning and zooming. It makes your iPad into a giant trackpad. Very cool so far.

RE: Continuous dimensions
Ahh, now I understand. As far as I know, there is no way to automatically do that...

RE: Continuous dimensions
You CAN do continuous dimensions in LO. Click the first point for a dimension, click the second point. Then for the next dimension in the string, double click to place another one that is attached to the first one.

RE: Now cannot hold shift and zoom in and out with mouse wheel?
I use my MacBook Pro a lot while I am out using Sketchup. I used to bring a mouse with me until I discovered that you can hold down "control" and "command" at the same time to start an orbit. Add "shift" in there and you get a pan. Now I never use my mouse with my Mac! This also works with the Magic Trackpad.

RE: Now cannot hold shift and zoom in and out with mouse wheel?
On my Mac I just use a generic 3 button wheel mouse and Sketchup works just fine. The Apple mice often times don't work the way you'd expect them to.
Do you have Magic Trackpads too, or just mice?

RE: Transform Molding
You could try Profile Builder:

RE: Back up files in component library
I hate how Sketchup for Mac does this. The Windows version of Sketchup will not show .SKB's in the component browser....
There is a trick you can do with Spotlight to search all the .SKB's in a directory, and all the subdirectories of a folder so you can delete them in one fell swoop. It's been a while since I've done that trick though.

RE: Oribit tool issues with CAD import?
Another great suggestion. I will try that tonight and report back!

RE: Oribit tool issues with CAD import?
None of the geometry is miles away, only a block or two! I didn't think about the axes though, I will check that out!
I did check for hidden stuff, and "strays" but not the axes...

Oribit tool issues with CAD import?
I do a fair amount of models where I import a CAD drawing and I sketch over it to make a 2D drawing a 3D model.
Most of what I do is houses, so I am importing a typical single family house plan.
I find that almost every time I import a plan, the orbit tool "loses focus" as does the zoom tool with the wheel.
Let me see if I can explain:
If you have a giant Sketchup model and you have the whole thing zoomed out on the screen you can orbit and zoom into it. The orbit and zoom tools are smart enough to know that a "push" with the mouse across the screen will rotate the model a certain amount. Now, on that same model, lets say you wanted to work on a tiny detail, you zoom into the area that you are working on, and the zoom tool and orbit tool become more sensitive. What I mean is that when you are zoomed in and you orbit or zoom by either pushing the wheel one click, or dragging the orbit tool just a little the model doesn't move the same amount as when you were zoomed out.
So this is the way Sketchup always works for me, BUT...
When I import a CAD model, things go badly. After the import when I zoom in real close half the time even the most minute orbit or zoom will send my model orbiting WAY more then I want, and the zoom tool will go from being on one corner of the house to all the way through it with only one bump of the wheel.
Does anyone else have this issue? And if so, do you know how to fix it?

RE: Automagically group faces?
That worked brilliantly! Thanks so much!!

Automagically group faces?
So I have a specific need... I have an imported CAD drawing that is just lines, no faces. I used the MakeFaces plugin to search the model and make faces out of all my closed geometry and it worked great. Now, I want to automatically make a group from each face without having to do it manually, does anyone know of a plugin that could do this? I search around and didn't see anything....

RE: SketchUp/OSX Lion Known Google SketchUp Lion Issues
Based on what I read above, I am going to hold off upgrading.
Did Google release a maintenance release for the Snow Leopard upgrade? I can't remember now....
