I've just tried placing a simple model under the water, and it worked with some problems.

First you have to place the model in sketchup well under the coordinates of the map you get from GE, it seems that the highest point in any underwater topography you import will always be 0 in sketchup.
And to view the model in GE from an underwater perspective you have to turn the water surface off, so no cool pictures from below the seas for the sketchup fans, wich is disapointing.

Have you seen this new feature of google earth??
We can start placing our models on the martian surface.
I did't have time to make a model, but i did something that i had imagined some time ago, the best place for one of TaffGoch Geodesic Domes, the edge of the Olympus Mons Caldera lol, i think it looks nice, what do you think?

actually its really fast to make in sketchup, i waste more time making the plans and sections in CAD, so that everything fits in right, if you have good and detailed plans later in sketchup its all done in a heartbeat, plus you learn a great deal about how the buildings were designed.
In this case its just a well done section and the follow me tool, the hardest part was making the outer perimeter of the Colosseum with a line that had the same number of segments as arches so that each arch sits on a planar face and not in a curve, also each line segment had to be the exact same size so that every arch could be done of a single component, so that later in detailing i wouldn't have to make 88 arches, but just edit one of them. oh and also its important to say i just made 1/4 of the Colosseum, then mirrored it 4 times to get the full building.

I'm making a big model of an urban area with lot's of 3d trees and on the renders, they look really bad because they are all on the same position, especially the ones along streets. Is there any free ruby that will do a random rotate and scale of the trees??

Check TaffGoch tuturial on making ropes, i think it's the fastest and best way to do that.

I made a quick test and it worked fine, but i tried to make a roof on a volume with a courtyard, and the script didn't recognized the void. It only worked when i when i made it in to a U type plan. Is it possible to change it in a way that it recognizes holes in the geometry of the plan??
